anyone using jeep XJ rear springs?
they seem to flex pretty good, and i am looking for another 4-6" in the back of WB and there 4" offset would bring me closer to where i want to be with it, and have a wheelbase of about 96-97".....
any thoughts, or anybody tried it

They are a good choice, but you MUST use an anti-wrap bar with them (they wrap better than they flex). I don't know anyone who has been able to use them to get their axle pushed back and not had to ditch the stock gas tank because of axle interference issues.

I am running XJ's front and rear on my rig. I extended the front of the frame 12" and have the back of the front spring attatched to the original spring hanger location. I was running YJ's in the back and had the hanger relocator, I left it on and extended the the rear shackle several inches. This leaves the rear axle in about the stock location and it doesn't interfere with the gas tank at all.

I got a 6:1 tcase and 5.29's in my toy axles and haven't had any problems wrapping my rear springs.

Heres an ok pick of it with my wife starting the entrance of lower 2 at Tellico

Those appear to be YJ's in the rear in that pictire

I haven't run them in the rear. A couple of people who have talked me out of it because of major spring wrap issues. If they are working well for you, maybe I gave up on them too quickly. How long have you been running them in the rear?

I think you need to look at the pic a little closer. I ran tellico for 5 straight days with no problems.

Come-on Guys...No Fighting! My guess is that AwsmZuk uses the XJ's setup in the rear in the standard setup with the military wrap at the frame mount which is with the offset pin forward so that the wheelbase is not extended much, but Tusker is talking about using the offset pin more rearward so that the spring is actually reversed which lengthens the wheelbase by quite a bit. This is why the gas tank has to be relocated. In the reverse spring configuration there is a ton of axle wrap since the springs are meant to be used in the forward facing direction.
I have a local customer that is having the EXACT same problem with axle wrap. It is so bad he could not even drive it until he fabbed up a traction bar. He runs a Tim Porter style missing link bar in the rear and a set of standard style missing links in the front. The flex is UNBELIEVABLE to say the least. He can drive over the roof of a car without lifting a tire. I personally think that this is almost too much flex, but hey, it's what he likes!

Also check out the thread on the Zuwharrie BBS about XJ springs: http://bbs.zuwharrie.com/content/topic,3209

I say go ahead and use them, just be aware of what is needed to make them work properly under your rig.

Good eye. Until I looked closer at the blowup, I didn't realize the springs were mounted short-side forward. That is why they looked so short to me. The pin-forward orientation changes everything in the 'wrap department'.

Thanks for that link. I will read up on what those guys have to say.

yes, i am looking to use them to gain the WB, as i am sick of this real short WB. i am starting to stand it on its back tires WAY to often, and the 92" WB right now is making me hit the all the holes the TJ, YJ, and CJ7's hit.
