Hey!Found out why 1 plug was grey! I pulled my upper motor down found athe right piston to be scored, melted on the piston skirt facing the exhaust port. It was so bad that pieces of the piston were stuck to the liner (cylender wall).
But I couldnt find out why this happend. after talking with everyone I knew, and with you guy's here, I went on and tore down the crank case, and there!!!!
I think I may have found the problem! where the case half's go together, in the part surrounding the crankshaft was evidense of a leak comming from the right side cylender crank case and leaking to the outside, I could see where the sealer/bond was gone. So I am going to reseal the case and get my cylenders bored and try this again. If anyone has a suggestion or some info on making sure I don't have another leak in the crank case, I am all ears and eyes.

I wanna know, what was leaking....coolant?

I had something very similar happen to me, melted piston(right side i think) and the top of the piston, and the head were pitted and dented, like sand or a rock got in there.

Let us all know.

PS, good time to get your cylinders ported.....i did, after the damage i just described, and got .020" Wisecos, and it was VERY worth it.]

Hey cleartoy, no it wasn't leaking coolant. it was sucking air from out side the case, it was comming through between the case halfs at front of motor. The guy Charles Southgate here in Nashville TN is doing the rebore and had previously doen the porting for me too, he said that by reading my pistons he can tell my fuel/air mix was too lean. so he is getting me some #320 main jets. I started at #200 main wich is stock, I had the cylenders bored because of a cracked stock piston and at same time had the ported out and I installed a Dyno Jet Kit and uped the main too 270 then I installed a Dyno Port PIPE and went up on the main to #290, wich was not quite enough to be safe so I am hoping to solve this lean mix problem by resealing the case half's VERY good and up the main jet size. OH yeah, have you used a boost bottle? does it help?

Never in a million years would i have figured that one out. Thanks for the tip, and im gonna keep an eye on mine.

What altitude do you run at?

Just curious, cuz at sea level with porting, .020 pistons, milled head, pipes, clamp on filters, i run #380 main jets in the stock carbs, and it runs great.

I ordered the Boost bottle back in December, and it has been back ordered ever since, so i canceled the order. Im going to get that and the FMF RAM valves from a local dealer soon to restore some low end torque that i lost when installling the FMF Fattiy pipes.

I may need to go up to 380 mains too, how fast does your banshee run? Mine runs 90 MPH with 20 inch holeshot rear tires and 15 tooth front sprocket and 40 tooth rear sprocket, but when I race in hare scrambles I use 13 toth front and 42 tooth rear.

I have 20" Holeshot rears with stock gearing. I have never run against a radar gun, or against another vehicle that has a spedometer, so i dont know what the top speed is.

Im going out riding this Fri-Sun. LQQkin forward to it!!!!
