Umpqua Dune Closure

This post is followed by a letter that we are sending out to anybody involved in the sport. I am 'cruising forums to try to get the word out, Please spread the word, SWB is a GREAT forum and one of our favorites!!!

To our friends and guests,

The latest addendum to the Umpqua Lighthouse State Park Master Plan has just been released. Their web site (http://www.prd.state.or.us/masterplans_umpqua.php) has yet to be updated but we believe it will be soon.

We have attended many meetings and expressed our concerns to the Douglas County Commissioners, The County parks Dept., Douglas County Planning commission and Oregon State Parks, with some positive results. Douglas County has proposed to create a "privileged access" for the guests of Discovery Point through the proposed closed area (the north dunes) and possibly create a new "bunny slope" area for the younger riders.
Although we fell that progress is being made, ANY loss of riding area is not in the best interest of anybody that rides on these dunes.

There is a public meeting planned in Reedsport for Wed. Feb 18th at 7:00 PM
it will be at Reedsport City Hall, community room

For anybody that wishes to attend we are offering free campsites and half price on our cabins for Wed. Night. Or longer if you want to stay and play. If you wish to attend the meeting give us a call. We would like to have as many attend as possible.
