Hello everyone,
I am looking at ordering some new u-joints for my 1976, CJ-7, with the quadratech and a part-time conversion kit. My front shaft is wobbly and I think that it is the shaft itself that is bad, but I figured that I would try the u-joints first. I have a few part numbers that I would like to throw at ya'll, they came from carparts.com and I wanted ya'lls op...

Don't you have a CV joint at the transfer case end? Thet are different than just a u-joint.

G
The front shaft has what looks like a CV Joint near the transfer case and a u-joint where the axle and the driveshaft meet. I do not know anything about driveshafts and what not. So, I am trying to go to different lists and seeing what they recommend. You are more than likely right, but I am trouble shooting to see what everyone has to say.

Check the joint with no load on it. If there is slop that could be a problem. They are not as easy to fix as a U-joint.

You say that the slop is located where the front part of the shaft goes into the back part. These are the slip splines. You will have to have your driveshaft rebuilt to fix this. They will cause a vibration while driving. A good local driveshaft shop will completely check the driveshaft for any wear and to make sure it is straight and balanced.

Did it go together nice and easy? You did something wrong. Will have to do it again./wwwthreads_images/icons/crazy.gif
