I've been trying to finish up project C2500 and I'm down to the last few things that it needs to be finished.Does anyone have a complete take out factory radio, under dash control box(amp?) and cassette with EQ that they want to sell??Does anyone know the biggist speakers that I could shove into the rear speaker holes that are larger than the factory 4x6's?????I've seen some 4x7's,4x8's and 4x10's,but will they fit????

you can probably snag the stuff from a wrecked truck for a good price. what year is the truck you're restoring?

i've never tried to replace the rear speakers, so i'm not sure how much room is there in the pillar. if you can find a little bit larger speaker without a big profile(depth), then you might can fit them. only trouble with that is you'd need to modify the pillar grill so that the opening matches the speaker instead of being small. did that make sense?

btw, i have my 4x6s from the dash that are sittin' in a shoe box, but i doubt you'd need 'em. i'm using the radio stuff on my truck, so i can't help you there /wwwthreads_images/icons/crazy.gif

as far as speakers, i dont think you can use any bigger in the dash. mine hit the bottom of the space anyways and they are just replacement 4x6s so they have a bigger magnet than stock. you can probably fit bigger in the ones in back of cab b/c you could trim the plastic if you had to. i dont think sound quality would be much different though. i have the entire unit youre talking about sitting in a box in my room. radio unit, amp, and cassette deck. works good only thing is there is a buzzing sound (sounds like interference) when you have the volume down low you can hear it. i think it was a ground problem but i replaced the whole thing with a cd player before i ever messed with it. one of those noise filters from radio shack might work too, i dunno. its up to you - ill make ya a deal if you want it. i will plug it back into my truck harness to make sure everything works and if this weekend i will play around with it and see if i can get that buzzing gone. let me know...

Get a set of 4x6 plates for the back. Not regular oval 4x6's but plates. With a 3.5" mid and .75" tweet. You will be amazed at how much better these sound. Also, in the front, put 6.5" components in the doors. Just cut the round whole and mount the mid in the lower door and then the tweeter in the upper door. I do it all the time and it sounds great and only takes an hour or two. Have fun messing with the rear pillars.
