Ok, I'm new on this site, but ive been readin ya'lls stuff for a couple of months.Anway I saw the pictures of tgt's Tahoe, and I liked how it looked with, i guess ya'll called it pinstripes, the stuff u had to take off with a heatgun. I was wonderin how it would look on a truck, and if anybody had any pictures. Also your opinions on how it would look on mine, but i don't have a pick. Its a 92 Z-71 ext. cab with a 2 tone dark grey on bottom and top, and light grey near silver in the middle.

It should look pretty good! I removed them on mine. I also removed the 4x4 stickers (and if it were a z71 I would have removed them as well!!) I think that if it is a real 4x4 there is no need to advertise it! As everyone will should be able to tell.

Anyhow, here is a pic of mine, it is a bit dirty though.

First of all, welcome aboard. It doesn't look too bad, just don't over do it. A simple pinstriping job looks much better than putting it all over the place and all kinds of curves etc. Keep it simple, it's only for asthtetic(I know I spelled that wrong) reasons anyway. I hope this kind of helps... I just like to ramble... "Lord I was born a ramblin man".

chevsuz, do u have a pic with the molding removed?? in that pic, its still on there. i think im gonna leave mine off when i repaint it (mostly b/c i dont wanna pay for more and hassle with putting it on). the only reason i would like to have some is the protection against door dings in the parking lot (but soon enough it will be too tall to worry about that!! /wwwthreads_images/icons/wink.gif/wwwthreads_images/icons/cool.gif

well...i didnt say it was in great shape, i said it has held up great, esp for living in florida. it is just now (in the last 6 months or so) starting to fade on the hood, but you can only see when i wash it and look at the right angle. but the paint is all but worn off behind the wheelwells from years of road debris and mud. there are also a lot of scratches on the sides of the bed from the woods and the previous owner did a lot of catering so he would reach into the bed to get his stuff and his belt buckle would scratch the sides. all in all, it is in VERY good shape for being 12 years old and if i have to pay for it, it wont get painted for several more years, BUT my parents have mentioned it being my college graduation project so if they wanna do that, i will be more than happy...

sorry my door ding strips are still on, but I plan to remove them soon. As for the removal of pinstriping/decal I used a heat gun. It came off really easy.

Has anyone that has removed their molding noticed any differences in the paint shade under the molding? I want to take my moding off but not if the rest of the truck has faded and the color underneath the molding is going to be a differnt shade.

I took all the molding off of my truck. much cleaner look, doesn't loook quite like the typical soccer mom.

If it still has original factory paint, once all the adhesive is completely removed, there will be no way to detect the molding was ever there. I found out my entire driver's side was repainted this way (and it was done poorly. They just masked over the trim AND the chrome fender edges - morons.).

But the passenger side is beautiful. My truck also has white pinstripes which I will remove too (I personally don't like 'em), I'll see if I can find a picture for ya somewhere.
