My 98 Expy doesn't have front hubs. The CV shafts are splined right into the wheel hub (positive connection).

I have a trouble with my 4x4 also. My 4x4 setup is simular
I a 1997 F150 ifs. I had a mechanic over look every repair I made . The guy told me he didn't see a problem other than
low and waterie oil up front. So he took off the diff cover
cleaned and changed the oil. He then told me it looked like I might have hit my new vaccume moter .So now he replaced it and told me see if it works if it doesent work
he wont bill me for the labor if I go to him to finish the guessing game .The mechanic is a good guy but guessing sux.
relays click. 4x4 lights up .the manual transfer case shifts.the front and rear driveshafts spin but the front axels spin or enguage when they want and when they
do work they pop out and it clunks If you or anyone can help I would aprecate it

Is there a vacume acuator on there like the chevys? It basically disconects the cv from the ring and pinon. So the d-shaft spins, and both shafts but no 4 wheel. This happend to my mons jimmy htis summer

Jack up your vehicle. Front and back. Engage the 4x4. With the vehicle running, see if the front drive shaft turns and if the front cv shafts turn. If the front drive shaft turns and the cv shafts don't check to make sure you have vacumm getting to the actuator. If you have no vacumm getting to the actuator your 4wd solenoid is probably bad or you have a vacumm leak in one of the lines going to or from the 2wd solenoid or the 4wd solenoid. Vacumm at the actuator should be 20hg. You also could have a leak in the vacumm lines to the actuator. Take a Mity-vac tool and put vacumm on the actuator line. Does the 4x4 work now?? Find the leak. Hope this helps.
