Transmission

Just recently I've been hearing a loud noise coming from underneath the Zuk. It starts screaming about 3rd or 4th gear and I don't know what is causing it. I've checked my transmission, transcase, front and rear diffs but they are all full and ready to go. Does anyone have any idea what it could be?

zuk_mongoose,
I had similar problems a while back. Just outta curiosity, how does your pinion seal look? and gear oil coming outta there? In my case, it was the little metal thingy [not sure what to call it] between the pinion seal and teh flange. When I would get going pretty fast, it would start spinning and making a loud screaching noise.

Yeah, there is some grease around it and also up by the smaller shaft connecting the transmission and the transfer case. A friend of mine suggested we swap out transmissions. You think that will fix the problem?
Have you checked your rear wheel bearings? one might be dry, and they don't use the R&P lube...
Hey Mongoose...

Do I understand you correctly when you say

That you've ruled out the tranny?? If not, here's a crazy idea... does the sound lessen when parked in nuetral and you engage the clutch? If it does tranny may be the culprit..
here is a pic of what I was reffering to :

Try turning it by hand. I dont beleive it is supposed to move. If it does, I'd say this is your culprit.

hope this helps!
