I am pulling an axle from a scout tommorrow and would like to know if I should bother w/ the t-case. The scout is an auto and I'm not sure what it has in it. It is buried pretty good in a wooded area and has no wheels or tires on it but I do know that it has a 44 in the rear, I could see some of the pumpkin. So if it does have a dana 300 is it worth getting it? Pros or cons? Or is it a dana 20 or something else?

No, it does not have a Dana 300 in it - not from the factory anyway. It's probably a 20.

D300's only came in the 1980 Scout (last year) and only several thousand were made due to a strike.

I have one. I think that there's one for sale on E-bay right now.

Should be a dana 20, i think it will interchange with a jeep one, not sure if that era scout had a single or twin stick 20 in it. Scout 300's only came in '80 as stated and are worth about $500 a case.
