Ok, need some help.. I have a 57 Willys Wagon that has a 351 Windsor in it with the T-90 and Spicer 18 set up. I'm thinking about getting a overdrive unit for it but would it be better if I went with a 4 speed tranny? Do you guys know what i could use with that 351?and spicer 18? Thanks Pete

unless you get some wierd old 4 speed the 4rth gear is going to have the same ratio as your current 3rd gear ( 1:1)

get overdrive, or get bigger tires, or regear the differentials, or drive slower. those are your options.

The T-90 is not up to V-8 power which you probably already know by now. A T-18 would be a good choice for a four speed that is plenty stout for a V-8. Ford used them a bunch on their trucks as did Jeep. Some T-18's had a lower 1st gear than others for better crawl. You'll have to go for bigger exspense to use a five speed that has overdrive.

If you can find a stronger tranny that will bolt up to both your engine and D18 tcase you would be much better off.
Then you could start searching for an overdrive unit for the D18 tcase (Warn). Might be hard to find a used one. Advance Adapters makes them...but it will cost ya.
