For some reason I've not been able to find this info. If anyone will please tell me what transfer case and automatic tranny (behind the 350) came in a 1997, GMC, K3500, regular cab, dually, it would be appreciated.
Okay. Right after I posted my message I had a brainstorm, checked the Advanced Adapters site. Typical, too late. What I think the truck has is a 4L80e tranny and an NP241 tcase. Is this correct? I've read mixed info on the tranny and the NP241 seems to be past the problem years (I know they didn't do too well originally in the Hummer) so my question is now on the tranny. Is it reliable? I'm looking at a truck with 49K miles.
The truck should hold up just fine. If you're going to be towing or hauling a lot I'd put a big tranny cooler on it and a gauge as well. The only problem you might find with that truck is the lack of a 454, but that's just your personal preference.
