Never been on an organized trail run before and I'm taking my 7 yr old with me to Zukimelt next month. Any advice on gear, spares and vehicle safty would be appreciated. Plan on taking it easy first time around and I want to be prepared to have a good time.

Mike, you and your son going to love it. My advice on spares depends on how your getting your zuk there. We bring a spare everything to camp except a motor. On the trail I would advise a minimum of a rear driveshaft. On the trail I bring front and rear axles, hubs, driveshafts, fuel pump, fluids, tools, bug spray, and pray I don't need any of it. Don't be fooled when your informed that the Green trail is the easiest. It's challenging, has more than element of excitement, and the distinct possiblity of body damage. On the other hand, bone stock sammi's make it all the time with no problem. You just have to know when to bypass an obstacle. You will want to make sure that you have good yank points front and rear. You will want to bring plenty of water out on the trail also. You and your son will have the time of your life.

Even on the "easy" trails, you want to be prepared. Always have at least: 1 tow strap, oil and water, basic tools, first aid kit, HighLift jack, work gloves, and snacks/drinks. Spare parts are good, if you have them. I used to carry gas when I had my Jeep, but with a Sami, you'll be able to make it back to camp with no problem. Be sure everything is secure in the vehicle. Lots of bungie cords! Even if you don't flip it,/wwwthreads_images/icons/crazy.gifyou will bounce around a lot./wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif Have fun! /wwwthreads_images/icons/laugh.gif

Thanx for the tips, I'll make sure I've got everthing bolted down in the tub. Besides the recovery gear and tools, I'll see if I can get spare front and rear drive shafts. Need to get a better attachment point for the rear. Time to visit my friendly welder man.

ZUKSCOOT- HI I am Tatzook's better half(ha ha ) make sure to bring the most important thing TOILET PAPER and SUNSCREEN. I don't know if anyone else has thought of that but some kids are funny about taking care of business on the trail... and the last thing you are gonna want is a burnt to a crisp kid. FOOD AND lots of water are essentials too. If you need any further help definately go to the IZOOK site for more Info.
