Trail & Street ID for BBS\'ers

Well, here it is! After many moons - /wwwthreads_images/icons/tongue.gifpun totally intended/wwwthreads_images/icons/tongue.gif - here is the current design that CJDave and I have cooked up. We now submit it to you all for approval:

Image

We narrowed it down to this for a few reasons:

We have to get ORC approval to use the http://, Short Wheelbase, or anything else that is too close to the actual addresses/names of ORC. The * in the middle of the SWB and BBS further distances ourselves from any infringement, yet all of us know what it means.

We have to get Jeep approval to use a Jeep grille. This grille "resembles" the grille of our beloved machines at articulation - (again, a symbol that all of us knows what it means) - but it may be just be a "Model-T grille" in the event we are harassed by corporate lawyers. Since we are not selling this for profit anyway, and we are a totally volunteer cluster of enthusiasts - they would be hard pressed to go ahead and waste time and money on it.

When blown up to 4" round, the font is more than readable at two car lengths - the further you get - the more the moon guy shows up.

The purpose of the Copyright is so that some unscrupulous schmuck doesn't pirate this from us and Copyright it for themselves - then screw us all if we decide to make this our mark. This way, they have to get permission from me to use the logo - or I can get it back from them if they decide to steal it.

This is simple, resembles a our 4x's articulating, gives the shorthand of our "community," and resembles our moon guys without actually copying one (and probably having to get some sort of weird permission to do that too!)

Well - enough said. If you have questions, feel free to post them. If you like it - let us know. If enough people want this, I'll start bothering my buddy for some low cost printing and cutting.

I think it`s GREAT ! My question is this ( someone already mentioned this I think ) if it`s all non-profit anyways , is it alright ( with your written permission) to copy this and get it printed where I live . My friend works at a place where they do this stuff all the time . He would do a few for free if I asked him . In fact I would also like him to do me a coffee cup too with the image. I like it that much . It`s your design and will respect any answer you give . Thanks for the time and effort in doing this for all of us . Much appreciated.

Jeff

Re: Trail & Street ID for BBS\'ers

Put me down for two too.
All we need to know is how much, how soon, and where to send the money.
Also, please include in the price for postage.
If you don't, you will be broke from the stamp purchasing.
Looks great by the way.

Re: BBS\'ers- what it stand for?

Just a suggestion, but we have our club stickers that can be stuck on the inside or outside of a window. Some are reverse cut, so they go on the inside, so they won't get scraped off during winter, and the others are standard cut so they can be put on the outside of the jeep (glass, metal, bumpers, etc).

Re: Trail & Street ID for BBS\'ers

Geeeeeeeeeeez! A quick count and I think there are requests for a little over 75 in just under 12 hrs . . . so I take it this is going to be our "unofficial" symbol of our "unofficial" community! I will call my buddy today and get some price quotes. Be patient! This is just the prototype - it hasn't even gone to the printer yet!

To Jeff:
Let me check the legal aspect of it . . . as to what exactly I have to give you and how I have to word it and I will get back to you. I have to be very careful - because I don't want to have to deal with somebody's hired gun - especially DaimlerChrysler's. BTW - it isn't non-profit. It is not-for-profit at best because this is not in any way an official organization, and I am not trying to make money off of this.

Re: Trail & Street ID for BBS\'ers

Read the very first post in this thread, it explains why. Basically it's so we won't need approval to use the Jeep grill.
