What are the torque specs for the dana 300 to T-5 tranny bolts? what are the specs for the valve cover gasket? Chilton doesn't list them. neither does the jeep owners bible.
anyone know any leak fixes for the steering box?
Thanks in advance for any answers./wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif

have never heard of torque specs for these.. but im sure they exist out there.. but i would just put the d300 on as tight as you can get them.. as for the valve cover... which one.. plastic.. mmm... not to tight at all or you will crack it.. metal.. just to the point of where it starts to warp.. a good hand tight.. thats how i how do it.. i guess.. not much for putting it into words..

There are torque specs for all bolts. Some are just general specs for the grade of bolt. Personally I would go till they are tight
and not over tighten them.

Interesting--the AMC shop manual doesn't list that either. The T-5 tranny-to-clutch housing is 55ft/lbs. That's probably a good ballpark for the 300-to-T-5, no?

The valve cover bolts are 28 in/lbs. [that's *inch* pounds]

Good luck!
