I took a road trip today to pick up a bunch of parts . Sometimes when I do this I come home empty handed as I sometimes get let down . The stuff today was the motherload ! 2 yota 5.29 chunks 1 locked ,1 spooled . 5 35x12.5 mtrs on 6 lug rockcrawlers 1 rear yota housing set up for a zul with a trac bar and a rebuilt zuki tranny with new clutch and a good flywheel . Todays trip was well worth 6 hours roundtrip .

That was a MAJOR score! Are you going to make any suspension changes or just bolt on the Jap 60's?
Those 35's will fit easily, your wheel arches look like they could take 36's or 37's. I would like to see a shot of the rear housing with the traction bar if you have a picture. I will be making one soon and would like to see all of the good ones I can before I finalize the design. Congratulations and happy wrenching

I think I am going to extend the frame 2" and use cj shackle hangers outboarded a little . I am raising the fender well in the back all the way up to even with the top of the tub .Then I will put on the TJ rear flares . The tube front gives me lots of room .I will take a picture of the track bar for you today . It is pretty nice and the way it is made it will act as a skidder for the driveshaft .I am thinking about the offset sky rear housing a little . I am not sure how the driveline angles will all work out . I will run this as is for now and see if I can live with it .

where exactly do you go on these "road trips"?

Benny this one took me to Raleigh N.C. about a 3 and a half hour drive each way . The last one was to Kentucky which was a bust and that was about 16 hours roundtrip . The one before that was to Los Alamos N.M. and Carson City N.V. and that took 8 days roundtrip . The only other major trip I took to get parts this year was to Wisconsin to get my truck and a zuk . I took the train up and drove back . I dont know why but it seems like all the stuff I want is always far away !I may be going to Ohio this week to get a 85 yota pickup so you never know where I will be !

Yup Rat I am pretty stoked to say the least .I got an absolute smoking deal on all of the stuff and the tires have 300 miles on them .The spare has no miles .
I think your old axles are cursed to only be in a rig 1 year and then they get yanked out ! My best friend bought them for his zuk so he will be lifting his zuk in the next month or so . My only problem is the busy season starts in another few eeks so I dont know if I will have enough time to get all this done . Do you have any yota adapters in stock ? I am going to need 4 I guess ?

so you are dealing with private sellers, not retail outlets or auctions....?

It seems like a long ways to go even for a good deal. I cant justify driving over 3 hours (each way) for a good deal. TIme is money

If you knew the deal I got you probably would take a ride too. If I start the diesel to go somewhere it is because I am usually paying less than half of the retail price ,for nearly new stuff. Yes I buy from private sellers . I do have a wholesaler I buy from but it is mostly jeep stuff I get through them . And I honestly enjoy driving . I take different routes through the countryside most of the time . Thats how I found a 1973 CJ 6 near mint for 700.00 . Some people dont like to drive and I can see not wanting to go three hours if thats how you look at a long ride .

I'm workin' on the 3/4" spacer for the drivers side perch with a 3/8" off set to help straighten out the spring, other then that the front is done less steering of course. I did score a complete 'kick power steering and install kit for a song after I put that in I'll get the crossover built. I'm shootin' for March for a test run at Cow Mt.

I'm guessing you turned off US1 onto Purnell Road near Wake Forest, 1/2 mile, then another left into the neighborhood... Am I right? Those parts look & sound familiar!

Ko Ko I think I found the only set of inexpensive locked yota 5..29s around . I bought a lot so I got a really good deal . The funny thing is with my t case gearing and the 2 to 1 box I was looking for 4.10s but these were already set up to go and who can say no to 181 to 1 low range? Plus I had a plasma cutter he wanted , so that made the wheeling dealing easier .

Spamurai you forgot about the loop de loop around the cul de sac . Yup you nailed it. I went to see Yager for this load . Really nice guy , I think I am going to run some hardwood flooring for him come springtime .

Blue Zuk psot some pics , lets see what ya got ! I guess I am the odd duck in that I like the drive . I see all kinds of stuff I want / need !

Flipper how long have you had the seagrave ? Any resto pics of it ?

I haven't gotten very far on the Seagrave. It and my other one (1940) are stored at my dad's house until I get my shop built in the spring. My dad has a 1938 too.

Firetrucks are cool and really cheap. At least one of them is gonna get street-rodded.
