No one seems to be answering you, so..
There are a couple of people that have removed the top off a tin tip (Mud Light as well as others). But I am not sure if they run soft tops on them. But if you took the time and measured a soft top sami, I am sure you could add a soft top. You would have some issues like adding a targa bar (or something like one) to attach the top to. Or you could have a soft top made to fit. With the latter you can make it the way you want. With the first you would have to try and make it close for the top to fit right.

You may want to check out a marina. Normally a canvas shop can make just about anything you want when it comes to a soft top, although it may cost you a bit more than a standard soft top.

prrobably better off just pulling the doors and rear hatch (you could probably remove the side windows as well

I dont think I have seen a single one running a soft top after cutting off the top might be able to trade bodies or rigs with some one if the body isnt bad

I have a tintop and probably will cut it after I roll it too many times. Mudlite's rig was originally a tintop, check his site out. Several others over on Pirate 4x4 also, I remember seeing a writeup or two. As far as removing the doors AND the rear hatch, something to keep in mind is that the rear door is a lot of structure. Going to be rough on the body if you're going over rough terrain with nothing back there unless you build a cage or something for support. The bodies on these are very thin. Good luck with it!

I have thought about doing the same. I was thinking of cutting the whole top off installing one of trail toughs full roll cages, and running a bikini top......

Save the tintops!

Tintops are quite rare now and alot of people prefer them over the convertables. I'm sure that you can find somebody that will swap a convertable body tub for your hardtop body.

Another option is you could buy a convertable Samurai for dirt cheap. Then you could drive the hardtop in the winter and the convertable in the summer.

I took my hardtop body off and swapped on a ST body. I have the rusty POS hardtop tub sitting at the end of my driveway. If anyone wants it, take it away. I'll even throw in a pile of spare parts I dont want.

Another tin-topper with an itchy sawzall finger here

I WISH I could find a softie for cheep around here, but it took me almost two years to find an affordable sammi and it was the tintop. I've been told mine was a rare version, late 88, but not much choice in it, Im not going to spend another $2k for a second sammi.

Yeah, I'll admit that I've parted out two tintops myself back around 1995. Then they weren't too rare and that's the ones that nobody wanted down south in Oklahoma.

One body was broadsided pretty good so I scrapped it at the local recycling yard. In hinsight, it was still in pretty good shape and I should have kept it for an offroad, winter beater.

The second body was in excellent shape with only minor rust. I posted it on my webpage that I was donating the body and tailgate to anyone who wanted it. Within 5 days, a guy with a semi/40ft container from Ohio came an picked it up! I was a little suprised by such a quick and overwhelming response.
The last I heard of it, it had a V-6 and 33" boggers.
