How much is the ticket? I would tell the judge the throttle cable stuck. Get a buddy at a garage to give you a bill for replacing the throttle cable after the ticket date.

Were you in the parking lot or on the street when that (the wheelspin) happened? If you were in the parking lot, (privately owned property) and the owner(s) did not complain about it, then in my opinion (logical opinion) there is no possible way they could legally give you a ticket for that.

I think the police can't do anything with regards to traffic laws anyhow on private property unless there's a complaint sworn out against you by the owner of said property for doing so. Check it out...

Now however if the owner did complain I could see them being able to do something...

Tim has some good advice. Here they cant write you a ticket for traffic violations on private property. Heck you cant even get them to come investigate an accident on private property. You should check into that and if it dont work out then oletator had a good idea/wwwthreads_images/icons/laugh.gif.

yes this is a good point that it was private property, BUT: i asked a cop here about it and he said spinning tires is miss use of power, i said how about prizate property?? he said not for miss use of power but for a noise complaint. i found this interesting?????????

Seems more like cops harassing someone for tirespin is misuse of power... /wwwthreads_images/icons/laugh.gif It's not going to hurt anybody unless you really go nuts and burn 'em off for more than a few seconds (heat up, blow them out, etc)...

About the noise complaint I'd think it would have to fall under the same rule as stereos, etc... I don't think it's a bad sound... Some stereos are with that rap junk /wwwthreads_images/icons/laugh.gif (no offense to anybody who likes that crap /wwwthreads_images/icons/laugh.gif) but I don't think I've ever heard a bad burnout... /wwwthreads_images/icons/laugh.gif

Dont tell them the throttle cable stuck. There's statutes in place that blame the driver for ANY mechanical dysfunction. You'd be admitting guilt unless your truck had a recall for it. Second, if it's a moving violation by all means go fight it. Remember you dont have to take the stand so you never admit guilt. There are a lot of websites available on how to fight a ticket. The best thing that can happen is if the cop doesnt show up. Case dismissed. Lastly, if you do lose, pay in pennies. (snicker) It's smarter to keep the bank seal on them because they wont count them if they're open but they do have to take them. A baliff had to drive me to the bank to count $100 worth of pennies. Hassle? Yes, but F-them!
Email me if you have any questions before court.

I completely agree. If you were on private property and the owner or neighbors did not complain then i would fight that ticket.

why do you think some tire leave marks and others dont? Maybe something to do with the rubber material. Anyway the spuelling noise of the tire in more than half of the cool part of turning them over anyway. Got to love the smoke, and the unmistakable smell.

good thing you didnt post this over on the jeep forum. they would have gone into a 20 page thread about how you suck for hating gay people. you see over there "this is gay" means your an anti gay homocidal backwards racist nutcase. ok im just venting since they jumped all over me for making a statment that supposedly is offencive to muslims. (you know the people that blew up the wtc) i actually didnt say a thing about muslims. although if i had i sure wouldnt apologize for it.

A local library should have a copy of your states traffic law book. Depending on your state that charge may or may not be considered a moving violation. I know that sounds weird, but remember who writes the laws. I have been a cop in houston for 10 years and have never written that ticket, so I don't know if it would apply to private property here. I would go find out if it was me. Last person I did stop for that wound up letting me drive her dodge viper. That was cool! good luck

Here in Cal the law states that marks have to be left on the ground in order for it to be ilegal.... amazzingly non-gay for Ca uh???

But also here in Kali the police can give tickets (and they hold up) on "private property" because it's easily accasiable from "public property" and is a "normal" driving route.... if its behind a "gate" it's harder for them to herass you, like in a paid parking lot or those old drive in moives /wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif

They CAN give you a ticket even if it is private property. I got a ticket for doing a brake stand in McDonald's drive thru. The ticket was for disturbing the peace which is a Penal Code violation NOT a traffic violation which means I had to to to court and face a judge./wwwthreads_images/icons/frown.gif

the gay officer did some stuff that i can get it tossed:

first he marked through the street where he pulled me and put another

second he put on the ticket that i spun on main street thus allowing him to give me a ticket

third i didn't sign the ticket when he gave it to me thus making the ticket not legal and i can get it tossed out quick

my girlfriends brother is in the truck with me if the officer wants to say i spun in the street which i didn't he waited until i left the gas station to pull me i learned why- he can't write tickets on private property and the people at the gas station didn't have time to file a complaint
because i spun and then i left and then he gave me a ticket i believe i can get out of it but thats life
