Hey guys I am just asking this for a friend who is looking at buying a 92 YJ. He was just wondering if there were any special little things he should be looking for when he goes to take another look at it. Any other info would be great too. Thanks

Ryan

check if it has been lifted. if it is beware of a shabby job like too much lift for the drivelines if done incorrectly.
take a good look underneath for how much oil covered on engine and the rest.
i would worry more of the mechanical condition vs the cosmetics.
would'nt hurt to take it to a mechanic or yourself to at least check the cylinder compression. a test drive could tell a lot if you are mechanically inclined and know what to expect.
it is a risk and a little scary to make an investment with no guarantees.
be sure to put it in 4wd and make sure it works. you don't have to climb anything, just make sure it works.
basically look to see if it has been "hacked up" by someone who may not have done the mods correctly. usually you are better to find one stock and do any mods yourself. then you know what you have!

good luck

another thing to see the general state of how its been maintained, check for blow-by in the airfilter. Granted its easily fixed (mostly) but it'll tell you how well it was maintained...

Yes, be sure to check for blowby, which "can" be an easy fix, but if the miles are high, chances are that the blowby is NOT an easy fix..more like a rebuild time. If the airfilter is brand new, look under it and see if there is any oil in the case, then ask to take it on a 15 minute drive on the highway, then recheck the air filter. Also look for oil and/or clutch fluid leaking from the bellhousing..which could indicate a bad rear main seal, or throwout bearing...both not major, but something to help argue the price down.
