Just joined the ranks of those who have had stuff ripped off lately, think I'm going to puke. Was all jazzed that I got my RE lower arms on, coil spacers, lengthened my brake lines...so whooeee I'm going out wheeling. I did and snapped off a tie rod end(it was loose anyway), but hey I had a Rusty's HD setup sitting at home. Walked to nearby farm and called my dad, got the setup and some tools and went back...oh crap. Some ******* jerkoffs with a deathwish busted into my jeep, punched out the lock on the hatch. Stole my CD's (only copies-thanks TAZ for the hint), my fire extinguisher, my hilift, the few tools I had and worse of all everything I had built that was going to ship out tomorrow which includes a front bumper, 2 lightbars and some skid plate stuff. I could care less about my stuff but all those things I built is making me sick just thinking about it. Now I gotta either build all that again or refund the money I was paid for it, either way it's a crap sandwich and I've got a big bite to take. Not going to bother with insurance, my deductible is high and not going to make much difference.

I don't know what the heck they are going to do with the bumper and stuff, it only fits XJ and MJ's. With hardly anyone around here into wheeling if I see an XJ going down the road with any of that on they are going to have a camo stripe down their side as I run them off the road and kick the snot out of them. Probably just stole it because it was there the dirtbags. Anyway if anyone sees something for sale from Iowa like that let me know.

did you take pictures of all your stuff like you usualy do? If so definately make copies and report it to the police if you haven't already. You never know. The more eyes you have out there the better and I am pretty sure everything they took was in excess of $100. I'm sorry about the loss bro. Try not to go Vigilante although I agree with you 100%. I don't know what will happen if the two are put in custody but I do know this... This country screwed up when we labled the judicial system criminal justice instead of victims justice. NORM

I use to work at a super max prison there in Kansas. You talk about poor inmates. Let see, Free health care free dental movie on Friday and Saturdays. Color TV's in the cells ( Poor inmate have to pay for them). They can by smokes and food from the canteen for a little of nothing. Let see in the get in trouble in the cell house it's not thier falt let blaim it on the gaurds. Free wieght systems and Basketball. And there is NOT that much Butt Love going on as people think. Just like any buddy they give it up if they want.
Rick
PS Don't forget they steal because the system makes them and if you did not have the stuff in the first place then thay would not have to steal it.
Kansas needs to bring back Hangings!

Thief's are only about 1 notch from being in the same class as child molestors......

But this does bring up a good point.....it's time to go out and buy one of those engraving tools. If you have a serial # (or any other number) on you stuff, the chances of getting it back go way up. I can not stress the importance of keeping records of all serial #'s...and if it doens't have one, then put your drivers license # on it. There is nothing I enjoy more than stoping some dirt bag who is in possession of stolen property. If he didn't steal it, he usually knows who did...and it doesn't take long to sweat a guy into singing.

And if he grinds it off...then that is just as good as saying he did it...It's a felony in almost all states to be in possession of any property with the S/N removed or altered. Which means that if you put your DL # on there and they scrape it off...GUILTY. But the point is, you gota mark it first.

I would also like to stress the importance of not showing off what you have. Those tinted windows on the back work well the hide what you have back there. At least keep a blanket to cover stuff up. Remove the radio faceplate. Put those CD's away. Use theft deterent bolts on those bumpers...and make it obvious. I know an alarm system does not do much good when your jeep is 10 miles from the nearest ears, but you might consider installing a LOUD sonalert inside the cab...say the 110 DB type? The painful noise just might be enough to 'encourage' him to go elsewhere. And don't forget the hood lock so he doesn't open up the hood to disconnect the battery.

it's a damn shame we should even have to worry about being ripped off. people should respect eachothers belongings. i bet those lowlifes would be the first ones crying if something were stolen from them.
a few years ago, i was out with a club on a trail ride. i had my warn hitch shackle mounted on the rear of the xj. we encountered a few stucks where i had gotten out to help. i never got stuck so i never needed to use the rear shackle mount. but i did notice when i had gotten home that someone helped themselves to it.
not that this was a very costly part ($30) but the fact that this was a club outing and someone from my friends club took it. so who can you trust?
sorry to hear about your loss athlonaj.

Damn AJ, I am sorry they hit you too.
With all the talk of a pain generator, what did you have set-up when they hit your Jeep?
I hope you weren't like me and typing all that stuff on here, but not actually installing it on your XJ............
I am glad to hear they only got copies of your CD's, and not the originals. Did you just burn them, or have you had them for awhile?
I just did a search on Ebay for the stuff you described and nothing jumped out at me. I saved the search, so when other items are posted, I'll get an email and will check it out.
Sorry again about your misfortune.

Nope, no alarm of any kind at all to be honest. Where I live at I even leave my key in it unlocked all the time even. The place I was at is not a well traveled spot at all but I still locked it up, my dad thinks it was just some ******** that were bored and I'm thinking he was right. To be honest I probably won't mess with an alarm or anything at all, I've already got a starter interrupt with a hidden switch. I know I posted some ideas before of alarms and pain generators but in all honesty if someone wants something they are going to take it regardless. Maybe I'll wire up 5 lbs of C4 explosives to an alarm though.

Pain gens dont do much. Trust me its not much to drive a greedy thief away. You have to install a full size siren into the dash to be loud enough. I think the full size ones are about 130db. Not too sure on the exact decible.
sorry to hear about the loss AJ. Hope your belongings show up soon.
Someone tried to break into my jeep last night. When i opened it up this morning the alarm beeped 3 times meaning that the alarm gave off a warning signal during hte night sometime. You have to hit it kind of hard to get it to give a warning.
