I like plan B:Toyota 2.4L turbo diesel,toyota auto tranny

 

I like plan 'A', more doable.
There are no readly available T-case gears/doublers/adapters for the Toyota automatic

 

it's a LWB, can't ya fit three transfer cases in? maybe four?

plan b sounds more interesting, but like zooky said, plan A sounds pretty easy to pull off.

no, from what I understand the T-case is intragrated into the transmission. Not positive about that but there was some reason that it was not easily done.

 

here is some info, its a bit confusing. Not even sure if the diesel has the same transmission bolt pattern.

 

I also like option 2.

 

#1 is close to what I am doing with the exception that I am running Yota cases. The yota auto is NOT the same set-up as the 5spd in regards to tcases.

If you want to somewhere between 1 & 2 you might consider:

VW Diesel (any)/Kick auto/dual yotas. Bad thing there is over a thousand dollars in adapters alone. Good thing is that you'd have decent torque, excellent gearing abilities, and strength in parts.

 

plan b all the way! 1600 8v just don't cut it.

 

Plan B is somwhat close to Tom B's LWB from WA.
