Thanks for suggestions on shackle problem--one more question though..

Could overtightening the u-bolts cause the springs to go flat or at least make my shackles go to the rear like they are bottoming out? Because I did tighten those down pretty hard.

I wouldn't think so, I got down on mine pretty good too and they work fine.

No, I don't think so either, but tightening down your SHACKLE bolts too tight could make the spring not spring-back after a bump, and then it could just sit there. Shackle bolts are supposed to be snug - some people like to use the nylock nuts too, with the locking nylon insert in the nut, so they don't loosen too much.
