TBI on a 90 YJ how good are they?

i have a chance to pick up a 90 yj with the 4cl and i'm assuming its got the TBi on it, how do those perform? are they any good? do they have hard starting problems like the carters do on the 4.2 and how does the TBI work? thakns

The TBI 4 cylinder runs and starts well. It has approx. 117 hp,5 more than the 4.2l, but much less torque. They have few real problems (cracked exhaust manifolds, crank position sensor failure are the most common)and are not too bad unless you need to haul a load or tow. The TBI doesn't have as much power as the newer MPI engines (130hp)and there aren't many aftermarket power parts available. Hope this helps, good luck!
