i need to swap the lube in an 1986 cj7 with a t5. books say use gl5 85-90w or a special mopar lube. a local tranny shop says bg synchro shift is the kick ass stuff and only $1 a quart more than the mopar stuff. anyone have any experience with this? lbjeeper

We had a long post on this awile back.
In the jeep book at the dealer it says ATF.
I have been told that a T-5 does not oil well
in the cold.
Anyway I put Mobil 1 ATF. I plan on changing it twice a year.

the bg synchro shift is a sorta thin like atf and is sunthetic like the moble 1. bet it's similar. the bg has some special anti deposit stuff in it. thanks for the info.

here is what i know.. atf will let it shift easier.. and gear lube will lube and keep it quite, and something in between would be a compromise.. so it is your call.. i have ran 30%gear lube and 30% mud and 40%water for a year and that seemed to work good. but that might void the warranty.

it's sort of still a cj thingy....
