All I read are stories of people sending out there T-cases only to find out that they're going to have to wait a month or two for it to be finished and returned. What's the deal.. I've emailed Petroworks..no responce..I've emailed Asian Autoparts in AZ..no responce..
Can anyone let me in on who's the best in price, and turn around. All I want to do is install the 416 gear sets and that's it..
I've also heard of guys doing it themselves. I've done head gasgets, lockers, and many other stuff.. but never gears, Is it easy??

the gear change out is a piece of cake. first time it took me about 2 hrs, the last set about 45 min.don't be afraid of this one at all you do need a press, but most auto machine shops will take the old off and put on the new pretty cheap. we got all three of ours from brent at trail tough 400.00 for the gears reused the bearings and gaskets. and you just can't belive the difference. we got the first set in about a week, second set in another week. the last set we ordered took about a week. they are good people to deal with. but i would recomend that you read up on the change out of the gears on izook and any where else you can find just to make your self more comfortable. i haven't used any other vendors gears so i can not comment on them. lol mike

I've installed both Calmini's welded gears and the newer 1-pc. gears. Kit costs $450, and included the gears, bearings (for the new gears only), shims, gaskets and a qt. of gear oil. The directions are foggy, but they also suggest using the shop manual.

It's pretty easy once, like NCOffroad said, you get those friggen flange nuts off. Be sure to bend the retaining cap tabs way out.

They are not too hard to do yourself.
(With a factory service manual)

Sorry if you think I didn't reply to your request, I looked through all our past emails, and still don't see an un-answered 4.16 request message.

the flange nuts really arent all that bad just be sure and unstake them if they are staked and use an impact. At first I tried a breakover and it was a no go. Put it in 4wd and grab the opposing flange with a breakover for a back up and use the impact gun to remove the opposite nut.

I would recommend ordering an extra flange nut with your kit. Mine was pretty hammered and need replacing so it wouldnt mess up the threads on the new shaft. Sucks to have it all back together and have to wait for your nut :)

The gear swap isn't bad at all -- just intimidating the first time you do it, much simpler each time afterwards. Best to have a Good manual, but aside from needing to press the bearings, the trickiest part is remembering to pull out the speedometer bullet!

I have ordered several sets of gears from Trail Tough, but NC has a good reputation IMHO & DaveAZ too. You may want to consider the "Technical Assistance Factor" for your purchase, since this will be your first one.
