Ok, you can believe my surprise when I ran across this. This is a definite step in a different direction for Suzuki. It looks to be based on the Grand Vitara. This could be interesting/wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif Imagine, a 4wd Suzuki Pickup!

Here is the press release it appears in but it is in Japanese. It is near the bottom of the page. There is also a shot of what looks like the production version of the XL6 Concept. Looks almost identical to the Grand Vitara now, just a little bigger.
Suzuki made a Samurai pickup up 'til 1984 I believe. They were very rare and looked just like our Sammys except the cab was closed off right behind the seats. The box was up high to clear the rear tires and the bed sides folded down to create a flat bed. A guy in our club has one, although quite modified.
RGD, I believe you are thinking about one of these. These were cool looking rigs, but they are extremely rare here in the U.S. Too bad, it would be awesome to own one. The thought of a suzuki built pickup with a large cargo bed is great. The only problem with the Samurai is the bed is either not practical or too small to haul large/long items or loose material like dirt. With this new pickup, I could have the cargo capacity and still have a zook/wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif. I'll take two please!
Thanks for that pic Ronin. That's exactly the truck I was referring to, except it appears this one has custom fabbed half doors. The stock doors look the same as all other Sammys.
I'll still try to post a pic of the one in our club because it is very trick.
there is one of the pick-up sammys that drives past me on my way home from work...someday i am gonna pull the guy over and ask "how much you want for it" ?

Hahaha, i'll take whatever that green and yellow thing is, thats SOOO cool looking... not that id fit or anything, or would ever spend the cash, but its still kinda cool lookin.
Here in Costa Rica they still sell the susuki pick-up...
the rear spring pak is a lot stronger and longer than the regular samy... good to adapt for better articulation and clearance...
is the suki pickup geting the V6???

Down here in chile, we also have the sami pickups... however they are based on the new coil-sprung design (Austr: Sierra)... and dont look as cool as the australians do...
hope to get a pic soon to post
bye
