Is it worth getting a 8" Lift on a 73-87 Suburban or would it be easier to get a 6" Suspension with a 2" or 3" Body Lift?

I have an 8" lift on my 86. I am using superlift on the front with custom built national springs on the rear. The superlift springs offer a decent ride but are on the stiff side. I am told that some other manufacturers offer a spring with softer rates. one drawback with the superlift springs are the small diameter of the spring eyes. this requires the use of smaller diameter bushings which tend to wear quicker than other bushings. You might want to run slightly longer front shackles as the stockers may allow the spring eyes to hit the frame (mine do). check out off-road unlimited. the rear springs are works of art. they are built to suit your particular needs and application. the ride is awesome. i dont run any blocks or body lift as they deteriate handling. my truck is quite stable and tow an 8500 lb Aljo sportwagon trailer without any swinging or swaying. wind gusts dont seem to affect it either. either the 6 or 8" lifts are probley going to require driveshaft work -D/D

If you've got an automatic, I'd go with the 8" lift. The body lift has drawbacks you won't realize until it's too late. If you've got a 4-speed, a 6 or 8 " lift is going to mess up the front driveshaft,(if you do serious offroading), it's very short stock!
