hey i have a stupid solo crash story that was stupid and painful too. i was riding out of the barn on my bros 300ex and the person holding the gate open wasnt paying attention and started to close the gate so i swerved to much and hit the fence post. the stearing colum had been cracked at the bottom by the previous owner so it would lock up if turn to far. so when i hit i nailed the twist throttle (wasnt used to it yet) the stearing locked up and the thing rolled over on top of me. the back tire (very wicked mud machines ouch!!)was on top of my chest and my hand was still on the throttle(still not used to twist throttle) so that the painful fiersome deep lugged tire spun wildly and ripped at my chest. severe chaffing!!! but that wasnt the worse part i landed in a patch of nettles owch those stung alot. ok there is my stupid crash story if you go a cool stupid solo crash or normal crash story post it so we can laugh at you ahahaha including damage to quad is interesting too the most ive done is $420

We all crash, my last good one was about six months ago, i went riding with a friend that had a 400ex, i was on his polaris, still cant remember which model, it was the 2x4, two stroak sport one. Well he broke the ignition, amoung other things, so the headlight was also broken with that, not a good thing when riding at night. The quick fix? strap two flashlights on with duct tape. It worked, yea for five minutes, then i hit the first bump, the flashlights were now pointed up into the woods, and a foot in front of the quad. I was able to ride following his lights for a while, we were going down one of those powertrails that had a mile of woops in a straight line (lots of trails like that around here), at almost the full speed of the polaris. By the end of the woops he pulled away and left me to my duct taped flashlights, which were looking for birds in the treetops at this point. Well thinking i was done with the woops i relaxed a little and slowed down, then came that last woop, the one you always forget about, well over the bars i went and when it was finished the quad's front tire came to rest on my chest, i was able to get it off with one quick push and checked for damage, i was a little bruised but ok, and the polaris had no new damage as far as i could see (the thing was beat before i was on it, amazing that he only bought it new a few months before that). He came back, and told me he didn't even see it, dam that must have at least looked cool, and nobody say it. Well, now i dont ride at night without a real headlamp, and i keep the flashlight in my backpack with my water.

I was riding my 400ex at Hollister Hills SRVA, CA . A group of us were playing around in this sandy/dry creek bed. Kinda doing laps up the face of a little dirt dam. I got to the top and grabbed a bunch of throttle, hoping to break the tires loose and slide around to the left. Well, much to my suprise, the tires hooked up and I was launched off the other side of the dam. At that point a survival instinct kicked in and I was able to push off from the quad. I landed about 10 feet down the dam and my quad about 15 feet below me. I'm lucking I didn't go all the way to the bottom. Bent the steering shaft, trashed the headlight assembly and cracked the front fender. ( I repaired the crack using a tip I got on this board. Drilled holes on either side of the crack then used tie wraps to pull it together. Even had some red tie wraps left over from the Rancho shocks I'd recently installed on my truck)

Well I have a few stories and can not really decide which one to tell...

My most recent one, was with my new banshee...the one you all are aware of...
We had been riding all day and my buddy sez follow me up this path...it takes us to a place that over looks the St Croix valley, I was like ok...so he flies up and it is really soft sand and kinda curvy...so he blasts up on the YZ 250 and I blast up behind him on mine...no problem....so we go to this other trail and go over to this spot he wanted to show me where him and another guy crossed the creek....I was not going to do it cuz it looked a bit too deep...he decided to show me...he hits it...flies across and he got stuck...meanwhile I am laughing at him...he comes back and we decide to hit the trail up to the over look one more time....so he hits it...then i come ripping up right behind him and right at the top..there is a tree stump you have to swerve from and there is just enough room for my quad to make it...well me beings the nut that i am decided to take it a bit faster then last time...and to miss the stump i moved over...TOO MUCH...and my tire caught the embankment....stopping the quad dead...and throwing me over the bars about 10 feet....landed on my back and just laid there...my buddy comes back are you ok? I am like ya except my ego....
anyway..that is my most recent stupid crash...if ya want the other one...let me know...it involves a tree...and high speeds :)

haha tree at high speeds that sounds like my bros crash on his 300ex. he was wrenching something on the front i think a tie rod. after that we hit the trails we were cruising down a straight and suddenly his quad jerked to the right strait at a tree. he ditched it and it smashed into the tree...destroying the header pipe, headlight, front plastic and a front shock. it was really cool the thing stood up right on its nose then rolled of the slight down hill at the side of the trail. while we were getting it back up i noticed a wrench and was like well at least we found a nice wrench. he limped back home and when we got home we were looking for our wrench so we could repair some battered parts were like where is that wrench....then it hit us he left the wrench on the tie rod which caught it and sent it at the tree!! he felt like an idiot. but it gave him an excuse to get a nice megamax 2 and chop his fenders.

airborn lets hear that tree story it sounds good

well, there was one time at band camp when i was riding my warrior in shoes and shorts and no helmet cruising along this trail and i was going over these woops right and i hit the next one and it crooks me sideways. then my quad hits the next whoop and my foot slips of the peg because i hit the woop cockeyed and the quad rolls over my foot pulling me off the quad and flipping me under the lovely beast that it was, runs strait over my sack(oooohhhh) across my chest and over my arm/shoulder. the guy behind me asks if im ok since he almost ran me over. i get up hopping on one foot(my other shoe got pulled off and launched into the woods about thirty feet since there was no chainguard) and holding my nutz now realizing that my chest shoulder and arm have received the gift of remnent spider track rubber left behind by my once again lovely beast. quad rolled into tree with no harm done. moral of story: wear boots, helmet, gloves, jersey, sell quad buy bike. easier to throw when your a skinny *****

OK here goes...

about 10 years ago, 91 to be exact...I was racing...and my nephews and I were up at the cabin for the weekend and I was riding an lt250 that we had just put brand new tires on (holeshots I believe) and we were tearing up some trails we had been on many many times...my nephew and I decided to race back so we gave the other group members a head start...he was on my cr 125 and I was on the lt250...well we were bailing down the trails and i was beating him...and just before an ever so slight curve there was a tiny dip in the trail...and the front end came up and the back end dug in hard...making it impossible to steer...and I looked up...saw a tree and said ut oh...as I went head on between 55-65 mph (had that bad boy cracked WFO)...well needless to say I bounced off the tree...and flew 30 feet until I hit the ground the FIRST time...I bounced 3 times landing a grand total of 48 feet down the path from the point of impact. My nephew came behind and saw the mess and flipped out on me...
I put the left front wheel back to the foot peg...snapped the rear shock at impact...and I bruised my liver, kidney lung, spleen, and tore the muscles in my back away from the bone....broke 4 ribs and tore 3 of the 4 ligiments in my left knee...to which I permenantly have 2 screws and 6 staples holding it together...

Needless to say the quad was totalled...and I was banged up a good one...
I did walk away from it as a matter of fact I walked about 1/2 mile back to the road so they could get me out of the woods...

It was one hell of a rude awakening and I still ride the same trails and ride just as hard as I did that day....

Anyway...that was the story...

Just a few weeks ago i was out wheeling on my honda 300, with my friends. We were following an old local rally trail until it came out to an old gravel pit. (im sure you all have had some sor of incedent involving a gravel pit) Anyway at the base of a large incline(a good 35 to 40 degrees, which may not seem like much) there was a shallow pond. i came flying through the pond in second and felt that i clould make it up the hill in third so i shifted. Big mistake. I made it 3/4 of the way up(about 20 feet) and the bike started to bog-out, so i down shifted. i could go no higher, the tires began diging into the loose gravel, and in the rear more than the front. so now my bikes on a 45 degree angle before i stop. But i didn't stop for long( being previously in a water hole my brakes were unfortunatly wet) and down the hill i go. I almost made it all the way down backwards when the wheel cought a big rock and made the bike turn. The bike began to roll over and i jumped off, tucked, and rolled.(im somewhat used to doing this now) Before i know it im laying on my back in the pond, and the bike is still rolling towards me. the bike rolled on its side and the rear right tire pinned my leg to the buttom of the pond. But the bike wasn't done rolling yet, it tipped over from its side onto its handlebars. The seat was now holding me under water temporarly, until i could worm my way out from under it. i was lucky only suffering minor bruses to my leg. my bike only had bent the handle bars. they looked like a victim of a strong man pipe bending competition. any way thats a story of mine and i hope you enjoyed if not learned somthing from it.

I havn't had many stupid crashes, but the other day(sunday) I watched Josh Long flip his bike in the air. He has a kdx200, it's like a tank. Anyways, the ramp into the shail pit isn't actually that high, it just sends you about 15 feet in the air ,and he went about 30 feet through the air. His power band hit in third comming off the jump, and that just added to the fact that he has just begun ramping, only about three days into it, and he flipped in the air. Landed hard on his âss, and the bike landed on it's seat about, and didn't do any damage except for a little break in the rear fender, and i scratch in the seat, but he hurt his äss and scratched his back up. We knew this was gonna happen sometime, because he already flipped three times the previous day. He is a crazy fück. Later that day, i was riding a dirtbike goin in 2cnd ggear and he crashed into me flyin in fourth, we both flew over our handle bars, got up and laughed, then drove off.

well no offence but that doesnt seem like fun...that seems more like carelessness....if you are gonna ride...ride sensible...i mean i am not condemning you because i do not know the situation...but the way ya explained it it seems as though it was riding carelessly and that is the stuff that scares me...kinda like drinkin and ridin....man its just not right...that is how people get hurt ya know???

Well, I have 2 Storys, Both Involve Me and my '83 ATC185S,
Well I was riding In this small Field not to far from my house, And was gettin kinda Bored so I decided to try this one hill bout 8-9 feet high, But WAY Steep, Maybe a few Degree's from vertical, So I was bein a bit Stupid, But anyway it did fine for the first few seconds since it was in 1st (Which is pretty low, Lot's of Torque) Front got to the top and went Straight up, my feet come off the pegs and I think went behind me, And i think i held it for about 5-10 Seconds (Seemed like a LONG time)Managed to keep it from flipin back on me, but I fell off the back and got ran over by the thing....Was just sore for a few days though....And now this week-end I went Down near Lamar to see some family and get together at the lake...So I decide to take the ATC Cause I'm Thinkin it'll be lots of fun down in the sand...So We get there on Friday night, I unload it and decide to ride for a few (it has a HEadlight)...And yup, It was fun Alright, Get up the next Morning all Pysched out to ride, Go out and Spin some cookie's and stuff for around 20 minutes, and then I'm Cruisen down the beach in about 4th, Just Cruisen along, and I see A VERY Small hole which I THOUGHT Would give me no Trouble, (Except I guess I didn't know how it would re-act in the sand....) Well, Made it through alright I think, But the hole must've Thrown The Front Wheel to the Left side a little, And it turned a bit, And then ROLLED to ride side, Rolled 3-4 time's, And there's nothin like havin a huge All terian Tire with around 300 pounds of machine pushin down on it rip up your back...I honestly thought I broke my Back or somthin, Got up and spun around 5-6 times...Then Got on the ATC and rode back to camp, Had to take my headlight and Front fender off because they were jacked up......Then to top everything off, I was out just spinin some Cookies later that day, And the rear right hand side HUB just Busted...I can't quite explain it but it just snaped...IT REALLY HURT when i called the parts shop today and found out a New hub will cost me $115!.....It was a Rough Week-end....

Riding the 2000 Warrior down a trail which for some reason just got really narrow and very off-camber. I slowed down instead of giving it gas and then I seen why it got narrow. A 5 foot crevice had started washing out the trail. Too late for much thought. A rock gave way and me and my quad took a hit. Check out this picture. My helmet left a sweet indent into the bank. Luckily, my adrenalin and a few friends helped me get it out. Didn't even do any damage, except to myself. http://www.geocities.com/hulionia/flwarrior1.jpg

GMC's post remins me of the time I almost crashed my 185s.
I thought i would be slick and use a side trail to get ahead of the person I was rideing with (the trails met a little ways down), well when i shifted into fourth gear to gain some speed I found a little hill (6" high) across the whole trail, you know it would be fine on any bike with a real suspension, but the 2" on the front fork (no rear) didn't do much for what came next. I hit the hill, poped into the air, landed verticle on my front tire, and bounced back to land right side up like I never left the ground. I can only thank luck and that last second effort to shift my weight back (to lighten the front for the hit, i think it helped in grtting the rear wheels down also)for getting me back on the ground with thee bike under me and not on top. What a good save that was, I wish they all worked out that way.

here is another one of my crashes it was bad i was following my bro on a suzuki 185 and he was on the warrior he lost me completely and i was trying to keep up. he turned around and thinking i went back to the house he came down this trail WFO i was putting around this slight bent in like 2nd (being smart and knowing he might double back so i went slow) i see him coming around the bend just downshifting into 5th (not being as smart thinking as i am) i swerve out of the way he nailes the brakes the tires lock up so he cant stear..very bad ..and our front tires catch the warrior flips foreward he goes super man like 6ft in the air and like 20 ft far the quad lands on its face and rolls over onto its rear axle so the axle bends and the front tire is blown and the front is flattend i just spun a 360 or two and fell off the back that was when we were stupid we are smarter now:) that is my flip story it was very bad and could have been easily avoided but we were dumb

ride like you stole it......except don't set it on fire when you're done

i just had a stupid crash the other day, i was out doing wheelies on my banshee and the throttle stuck open, making me go back on the grab bar. still holding on for dear life the bar bent up to one side cause it was missing a bolt. the quad and i did a one 180 with my elbow on the pavement and the quad stopped facing the other way and i kept turning to make a complete 360. with road rash all over my every joint, this makes it my stupidest crash

ok i got one here. It isn't really a crash on my part but it does go along the "stupid" lines. Me and two buddies just got back from and excellent day of riding (mud, trees, fast straights and everything else. I was just on my way home with the bike on the trailer after washing it and dropping the other two off. I was about two miles from home and i look back just at the end of a turn in the road just in time to see my bike, slowly at first then all of a sudden roll off the trailer and endo and flip and all sorts of crazy stuff and finally to land upside down in the barrow pit. Needless to say there was some damage done to the machine, bent handle bars, bent front spindle, bent rim, messed up grips, bent racks, shift linkage bent somehow (don't know how). No broke plastic though, amazing grace. Came out alright though, used it the next day. Took a BFH (I'm sure you all know what that is) and a big pipe and got things staightened out good enough to last for like two months. It's all good now, we got a brand spankin new Sportsman 500.
