There is a sender low on the passenger side block. There is a sender high on the drive side head (or close to it). '78 258. Which one is the oil sender and which the temp sender? Yeah i know dumb question./wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif - Tim

the lower one on the block, that looks sort of like a bell, is the oil pressure sender.

The one higher up on the head is the coolant temperature sender.

the one on the head (driver side) is the temp guage.

I suggest changing them both out to manual gauges. Neither one of mine worked when I got my Jeep. So i went to manual because they are much more accurate and reliable than the stock electric ones.

How hard is the switch to manual guages, lots of work involved? What brand did you use?
