My 79 CJ5 (258) had ALL emmissions stuff (exept PCV valve if you count that) removed when I bought it. Yup, no cat, no EGR, nothing!. Still passes emmissions in CT (25mph dynamometer test). Only flunked once, when I had an intake manifold leak. Fixed it and it passed no problem. All I do is change the oil, check/set the timing, and lean the idle screws a bit before going in. Fortunately they only do a visual if you're applying for a waiver <g>.
