strange seat question

I noticed today, the drivers side seat mounts onto 2 rails that are part of the body, and the passenger side seat mounts to the floorboard and has risers atop slide rails? why is this?

no reason for asking, I was just trying to think of an explination for my own curiosity

the seats sit at an equal height, and hte floorboard is an equal height for both sides, its just 2 totally different mounting systems

Your probably on to something about hte engineering input htough

Here's a thought...

Maybe that raised mount on the driver's side is supposed to act like a dam. When a driver slams on the brakes in a panic stop, all that crap the average person shoves under one's seat wouldn't come flying out and jamb up under the pedals.

Naw, that can't be it either.

Great thought, but my problem is when I do actually have to hit the brakes that hard, there is so much crap, it comes right over... ha,ha
Seriously though, that is the only reason I can think of too.

that was my buddys theory, the owner of the sami, it keeps cans from rolling under the brake pedal and screwing things up!

strange engineering feature

Since we are on weird seat questions , why are my leavers to let the seats tilt forward in the middle of the car , ie not on the door side . Makes getting in the back anoying , I thought they were just swapped until I looked under there too .
