OK, I know I already beat this question up. I received a lot of help. Now that I rebuilt the tranny in my wife's explorer I am broke. I need new tires and I want bigger but will have to use stock 15X6 chromies. I was wondering if a 30X9.50x15 is much bigger than 235/75. Will I notice the difference. If not i'll save some money and put 235's back on. Just for giggles, will a 265/75/75 fit on 15x6 wheels. Somewhere I read they ave a static height of 31 inches. Or ws i dreaming again...Thanks...Yogi

Here are the tire sizes in real numbers:

235/75x15 ~ 28.5x9.25x15
265/75/15 ~ 30.5x10.5x15

As for fitting on 6" rims, yes they will both technically fit but I would only use the first one. The 265/75 tire (common on a lot of stock toyota's) is a little too wide for the 6" rim and will look weird (you will also wear the center of the tires out quickly).

If you want narrow yogi go with 33x9.5x15 bf goodrich tires. Hard to find used but easy to control on a 720 if you dont mind the higher gearing.

The 235/75/15 is about 1/2 in. smaller in both tread width and diam. compared to the 30-9.5-15. All the tire info from the companies say the 30's should be mounted on 6.5-8.5 in. rims. Hope this helps. Thanks for the info on the ARE topper.
