I have an '88 Pathfinder that has a "ticking" noise on start up that lasts about 4 seconds after ignintion. I don't know what's causing it so if anyone has had the same problem or knows what the problem may be, any input would be appreciated.
Thanks
Furb

I've heard if a few times on my 89 V6. I actually haven't heard it in a while but I thought it was the typical loud lifter problem, like
it wasn't filling with oil fast enough.

It has to do with the oil draining out of a lifter, and then it sticking. An 89 Maxima my parents have has the same problem. It was helped by using marvel mystery oil, it has some good solvents in it so it seemed to help free up the lifter a bit, now the problem is very negligble.

I had the same problem when I bought my 94 path.
I immediatley changed the oil. I used Castrol GTX
The ticking went away.
