Stainless brake lines & TJ nose dive

We've taken our 98 TJ Sport to the dealer twice complaining the vehicle does a nose dive even under moderate braking. It seems the rear brakes are not doing their fair amount of work. Each time the dealer claims they checked it out and it came back normal.

Any of you had similar experiences?

Now I'm thinking of putting a stainless steel brake line in the rear, but leaving the front ones stock... that should give the increased breaking power I want in the rear.

When installing the SS lines on my 4Runner I did the front ones first, and did the rear only after noticing how much better the fronts were suddenly braking compared to the rear... when they had a nice balcance before. I added the rear SS line, and they were balanced once again, but of course with improved braking over the rubber lines.

If you've had any experience with fixing nose dive problems on your TJ I want to hear about it!

I would have thought that if you were nose diving it would be a problem with you coils or shocks NOT the brakes. Could be wrong - Just posting my first reply.

I brought that to their attention as well... the front of the TJ sits at least an inch lower than the back. They claimed it was still within spec.

We plan to replace the shocks with RS9000s next week.

Thanks,

The previous post is on the right track. The nose dive is not caused by the brakes not working properly. Heck my ninja will nose dive if I get of the gas too fast. It is all a matter of physics. When you hit the brakes the tires slow down compared to the ground, but the body of the jeep is trying to keep moving forward. That is why a car squats when you hit the gas even if it is front wheel drive. If you don't want the nose to drop add stiffer springs.
