Thanks to all of you that replied to my last post. I have a '80 CJ7 with a 258, Dana 300, and everything else is stock to (tires are 30 9.50 15). My SR4 is slipping out of second. I need a new tranmission, I don't want an auto. I don't need a creeper 1st, most of my driving is on the road, farm, and sand. I plan on keeping the 258, just upgrading it at rebuilding time. In the future, I will lift the jeep a total of 4" and use 33 12.50 15 on a 8.5" rim. I will gear down to make it work, and while I'm there add a locker in the back and a limited slip in the front. Now, here is my question, which trany? I was thinking of the T-176. Any ideas? Price? Availability? Installation?

The T-5 would be my choice given your needs. It will fit in place of the SR-4, an easy bolt-in.
