Alright, I am about to make a spare tire rack and my neighbor is gonna help me with it. Well before i start i need a design and i was wonding if anyone could help me out with a design. I want it to mount on the bumper and hing out so the tail gate could come down and i was thinking something like a triangle comming up, like the rock crusher bumper, but i also want to mount my hi lift on it and a place to put a gas can. Thanks

Me too, but my tailgate swings out.

(Getting a new set of 33's, and have to rid myself of the stock spare)

Do you think insurance will cover the carb if it some how "teleports" behind the tires of a 350 with dualies?

any chance you have access to autocad?
I have detail dwgs of the ones I built. If you don't have autocad access I think I can make them to word docs.
mine has everything you describe, except the can mount - but that is easy.

If your looking for good ideas you ought to do a search for the the bumper and rack that H8Monday made I think that you would like it.
By the way where is H8 lately.

(forgot how to make them clicky!)

The best one I have come across (the link is dead now) has a hinge point on each side, and opens in the middle (LC style). He had 3 jerry cans on one side (2 gas and 1 water), and a 35" swamper on the other. I was amazed that the tire didnt hange over the side, and he said that it will take up to a 38".

Hey trailisman, you could always load the cad drawing onto Acrobat reader, that way those who don't have Cad can view the drawing. Just an idea.

Yeah, i like that basic design a lot, but i want to be able to mount some gas cans and my hilift. some of your ideas are great though, i like the clamp thingy at the top to make it more stable, and i like how simple the hing and the latch is, do those 2 work out fine for you?
