American owned companies pay 3 times as much taxes than foreign companies, helping to ease the tax burden on US citizens.

Food for thought...

Tire Brand Name Nationality

Cooper American
Goodyear American
Kelly Springfield American
Mastercraft American
Dunlop Australia
BF Goodrich France
Michelin France
Firestone Japan
Toyo Japan

FWIW, I run Mastercraft.

Re: something to think about before buying tires..

Buy American.

Good idea. Hard to practice, even when you try.

My 2000 Chevy Silverado was made in Canada.
Honda Accords are made in Pennsylvania.

Which benefits our economy more???

Try to buy an American camera. Ain't NONE. Kodak last tried to manufacture a camera in Rochester 10 years ago.

Check your tools.

Look at where most AdvancedAutoZonePepBoys house brand parts are made. (starts with M)

Shouldn't we be messing around with old Jeeps not Suzukis?

Most people want lowest price and don't give a rat's azz about where it was made. WalMart is proof.

Now you got me started. We can all have more STUFF if it's cheap. Doesn't matter if it's junk.

A while back I tried to order some suspension parts from one of our vendors, the parts weren't here from CANADA yet....

Starting to see RED..gotta go outside...

It would be great someday if existing and new aftermarket vendors were able to produce most all of Zuki Folks' needs.
We are trying to buy from them whenever we can, even if teh price is higher. We feel that extra money is supporting so-called "cottage industry" that needs all the support it can muster to survive and prosper.

What if your buying your imported tires from a American business man running a tire shop that supports his family??
It's all about the almighty dollar, it's why we work in the first place......right?. Most everything in our stores are produced somewhere else, why?...It's cheaper, people need cheaper food, gas, hardware, homes...ect and they will buy it and not care if it was made in the USA or eleswhere. The thing that matters most is that it was SOLD in the USA and thats what drives the economy.

Hey Toyguy, so where do y'all get yo petrol from?

I saw on TV that the US uses 192,000,000 GALLONS each and every DAY. And increasing as families are able to afford a car for each member.

Yikes..... Invest in Iraq guys, you can't lose....

I buy American when I have the choice and when I can. Sometimes it comes down to when I can afford it.

It's been close to twenty years since by brother worked for Big-O, but back then, Cooper made their tires. Cooper makes the Pro-Comp tires.

I don't think I'll ever buy a Michelin again though - france - yuk.

Re: something to think about before buying tires..

IIRC, most of the oil used in the US comes from the Americas, Mexico and Argentina/Venezuela. But I could be wrong.

ProComp tires are made by Cooper, I really like my Xterrains.

Buying American is nice, but given a choice between a cheep piece of crap and a decent product, I'll take the decent product every time no matter where its made (usually not in America).

Man, WHO CARES! That kind of stuff really makes me laugh. I buy what is the BEST out there, and if it isn't domestic, tough [email protected] If we built a better product, we wouldn't have any trouble selling it.
You drive a Zuk? Then what's YOUR excuse?

Fawking laughable...

Cheers,
Steve

I've never bought a new sami, I bought them all from Americans so Japan didn't get a dime. When I do buy newer cars, I try to buy an import, I (my opinion) feel that I get more for my money and a better quality. I work on $40,000,000 business jets (made in Canada), most of them are owned by American companies, so "buying American" doesn't really benefit the workers, it pays for the CEO's toys. Seeing where these things fly and what they carry on board you can see they are not used for business much. Last year, we installed a $200,000 entertainment system so the owners kid wouldn't have to "suffer" on the long trips back and forth from their vacation home and complained that he had to pay overtime rates because a few of us came in on a saturday to finish it up (our shop rate is LESS then alot of car dealers), I guess American business doesn't want ME to make a few bucks. With that said, I do try to buy American when I can when price/quality is similar

No man,
I have never owned a domestic truck, I work for a Canadian company, I have a mexican guitar...I'm fully aware that everything that comes into out shipyards, trucked to every city and sold in stores, provide jobs for us. This is a Suzuki post, I drive a Toyota...I just thought my reply was funny.

America, at one time was the leading mfg. in the world. Now all we make are pizzas, burgers and chicken. Dosen't matter weather the company is American or not, most of the products are mfg. outside of the USA. Take Briggs & Stratton for example. They threw a whole midwestern town out of work when they moved their plant to some bananna republic. More and more Anerican companies are doing the same. They dont seem to care that they are puting thousands of american workers out of a job. You can always go the to work for the Colonel and be a chickenolodgest. (At minium wage). Buy American is getting to be a joke. When you do all you are doing is lining some wall street fat cats pockets while the american worker is getting the shaft.

Not to hijack the post ( we are talking international trade here!). Yup, the completion center is closing in the next 15-18 months. I work in BBAS, so we're safe. I mostly work on Challengers, thank God, the Globals are designed by Rube Goldberg! Take care bubba, maybe I'll take the next road trip to Hartford. BTW, I'm an interior guru!
