I don't think it's ENTIRELY true. I know the T150, T176 will bolt up if you swap the bell. But I'm really unsure about any other tranny. I find it hard to believe that any of the newer trannys will bolt up.

you could probably almost get any of them to bolt up with an adapter.. now.. without an adapter.. i wouldnt count on it..

When I called advanced adapters last week they advised that the t-150 (what I have) is a ford trany and will bolt to any ford T-150 bell housing. I asked about the 5.0 and he said if I had the bell housing to go from the 5.0 to a t-150 that it would bolt up and that I should be able to find it in any junk yard.. I have no Idea if this is true as I have not done it, but that is what they told me, and it makes sense....

97 TJ 31's and mostly stock but seeing what I can do about that..

The Jeep transmissions that use the Ford butterfly bolt pattern will bolt up using the correct bellhousing. The only two that I can think of which use this pattern are the T150 and the T176/177.

Dont forget the T-18. Swap in a ford bellhousing and bolt up the engine...
