I pondered headphones and a cd player for the longest time.

I can't remeber why I opted not to take that route.
Oh well. I just crank the speakers so I can hear it. Then I end up replacing the speakers every time they go for a swim.
(Started to get them real real cheap of friends who are upgrading.)

I learned my lesson with speakers the second time I went out, some poor guy with a Dodge 1500 2 subs, alpine stereo and amps, put his truck window deep in the soup.

I sure wish I had the money to screw off for that mod!!! Wouldnt have to worry about all the creaks cracks and moans along with the popping noise of broken parts!! Just drive her with the stereo cranked till it quits moving..turn it down... what tha??? Course, I'd to get stuck in a good downpour in that thing, that's alot of money sittin there that aint water proof!!!

It's as close to a 1ton as it can get and still be a jeep!!! Gotta love it!!

Well to each his own. Looks like he put a lot of time, effort and money in it. Too bad that Jeep won't touch anything tougher than a gravel road.

Not something I would do. If I had the money to do all that, I think I'd retire.

That is really some kick-ass craftsmanship! I get scared wiring little things, relays confuse me.... That took some serious thought and skill. I'd do it to a Grand Cherokee tow rig...maybe....

The Postal would be perfect for this though...

Make it up as you go.

"I'll cut a hole here, a hole there" He sure did go all out. I like the creative thinking though. I'm not sure all those speakers would be necessary. He is now stuck to anything but water. And unless he has a hardtop, that stuff would be gone in a new york second. That'd just give me a headache, I'd rather listen to my Jeep too

Great install, not sure I would do it in a Jeep, but for something else. I actually did the same thing in a brand new Typhoon (GMC fast Blazer thing) that a guy brought down straight from the dealership to a shop I worked at in Kent. I think the total bill with Rane Pro Sound equipment, six amps, Compression drivers and install was about $35,000, and took us about a month straight.

Looks like he spent a lot of time/money on that, but why would you need that kind of system in a Jeep? Looks like another pavement-pounder to me. Imagine what's gonna happen when he sinks it in 3 feet of water /wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif

All 3 Jeep's ive ever seen with amp gear like that, were all sitting in a puddle. The middle of the puddle.

I've never seen a Jeep with a "real" stereo that wasn't in the middle of a river, or the middle of a pond.

The last person I knew personaly who used headphones in there car, got eaten by a train. Not something I would recommend to anyone. I used to have all the amps and subs in my old car and I loved it, until I starting getting earaches, but thats another story. Somehow I could still hear sirens and train whistles with the subs, but headphones are a total block out to the outside world.

I've had about 3 radio's in my jeep.
They have all bit the dust,or quit functioning properly.
One caught on fire, two just stopped working all together, and another one messed up all the time and the tape player doesn't work anymore. It cuts out on the radio every once in a while.
The radio assasins were all water..

You don't suppose that cutting all those holes in the tub might affect structural integrity? If it ever does go off road and gets twisted up good I can just see woofers popping out of the wheel wells and that big amp going snap, crackle, and pop, as the floor bends around it. Anyone else notice the baseball shifter? Oh, and I don't think he'll need to worry about keeping warm in there with all the heat coming off those amps.
