Is there interest in a soft door that has a removable top have, converting them into half doors?

These would be built specifically for the Sammy (and not Jeep door).

If the price is similar to the soft doors on the market now?

If they were readily available, in stock and boxed to ship, would you be interested in a set?

Hey Tim have you built a set yet?
A couple of questions for you.
1. Will they be low cut (just above the hinge, slop down to the stock latch location)?
2. Will the inside of the door be finished or just the outside, inside pockets?
3. How will the two halfs attach/lock togeather?
4. Will the window unzip?
5. Will there be a window in the lower half also?
6. If yes to number five will it unzip?
7. Will the windows be removable and replace able?
8. Are the doors going to be super light?
9. Will they have locks or just no-locking handles?
10. Will the doors follow the contour of the body?
Sorry for the 20 (10) questions, but I built a set about two years ago and those are some off the questions I came up with before I built mine & some after I was done. The biggest problem I had with mine was the top pulling out at highway speeds. I had a CJ5 that had the same problem, but not as bad. I am sure if I used a harder matterial or hardened it after it was formed it would have had less problems. I use my bottom halfs all the time (in the summer) and the top half's to keep the rain out at work.
So to answer your question, if they stay shut at highway speeds. Are A comperable door to others on the market as far as build fit finish and price. YES
I have not had time to rebuild mine, or build a new set. To much going on.

I hope so. I would like the bottom half of the door to be be flush with the tub.

I dunno. Cost will be the determining factor.

Similar to Jeep doors.

Maybe. Maybe not. Dunno.

Well, define "super". They would be lighter than the existing doors.

Putting locks on soft doors is like posting a "Beware of Cat" sign on your property.

They will be designed specifically for the Samurai.

Yeah, this is a problem with most every soft door I've ever seen. hopefully the top could be designed to no let that happen.

A bonus would be for the truck that has a custom cage and has lost the targa and other bars. The 2-pc doors would lend themselves nicely to a custom top.

GRW Do you have any pcs of your doors? I personally don't like the calmini doors with the windows on the bottom. I could just see them getting scrached with what ever your tires kick up and eventually looking pretty nasty. Like many of our soft top windows over the years.

Tim will you sell the pieces separate? For those of you planning to make half doors. You might wanna wait to see if these dos pan out. Then you can customize your bottoms to fit the already made tops.I won't stop saying how great of Idea this is. I've wanted better door options for a long time now.

I don't think so (pictures), but I will take a look.
My bottom half's do not have windows in them.
I was rushing to get them done for the Rubicon trip.
I just keep using them as they are.
But if Tim makes a nice set I will spring for one or two.
As mine where just a first try, and at this point I have to many other projects to even think about trying to start over (for now). But if Tim does not make them I will have to take another stab at it (for my LWB).
