SOA not just for trails anymore?

With all the kits for SOA conversions, are they considered safe for a daily-driver? I've toyed around with the idea of lifting my jeep 4 inches, but I figured that a SOA would be better in the long run if I lifted that much. Is it true that axle wrap is a problem with SOA?

There are plenty of people who use their SOA CJ or YJ for a daily driver, just like people have lockers in their rears on daily drivers. If you need to do the harder trails, get to work, and not be buried under multiple car payments then it's the way to go. As far as axle wrap goes, the more power you have and the softer your spring packs are the more axle wrap you'll get. You can add stiffer spring packs, add a leaves, or traction bars of some kind to help control it though.

Griffin, yes you can run an SOA safely on the street. A number of members of the club I,m in run them as thier daily-driver. They've also
made long distance trips, such as San Diego, Ca. up to the Rubicon and back without problems. SOA's do experience axle wrap. There
are a couple of common fixes. One way is a traction bar set up. Another way is with a custom set of springs from National Spring in
El Cajon, Ca. On these springs the eyes are wrapped in the reverse direction from normal. This has worked out quite well.
