Nothing is being done to the truck, the truck is going to be doing things... Don'e worry there will be full audio/video coverage of the 3 day event. Prepare to see carnage!

Anybody remember if he's got a front driveshaft now? I don't remember. I looked back through a few PMs, I know where he's headed, and I hope to god he's got his front driveshaft made/installed. Good thing his gears got here in time too.

Since he chose to make it a surprise, my lips are sealed as to his event.

I hope to the 4x4 gods he's taking lots of film/memory/tape/whatever for his camera.

yes since jason wants it to be a suprise, i wont tell either! it will be good stuff come monday though! also, yes he does have a front drive shaft in. he climbed straight out of a creek bed over a (i believe) 4' vertical wall last week. the gears reached the proper mileage and had their fluid changed already too. shaggys truck didnt get done in time so he is jasons co-pilot this time.

Your all wrong!!! I went to Frank Raines off road park in Patterson, CA with my club the Nor Cal Big Dawgs.

It was mostly rocks and a few mud holes... And I played in both

.

Anyway, Evan will be capturing the vid and emailing it to me. We have 2 hours of video of the club. I'll take a few stills of it and post tonight. I only have a few pics of my truck since we did video the whole time instead.

Heres one of me waiting to get through the traffic jam at the entrance of the creek bed:

Truck did pretty damn good in the rocks. The wheelbase actually helps a ton and it has pretty good flex. I still need to move my front axle forward about an inch because I basicallly ripped my front tires to shreds rubbing on the floor boards...

And then there was damage...

I completely FUBAR'D my steering. My steering box is pouring fluid out. Had to fill the pump 4 times on the way home

. I'm going with a WTO ******* Ram though in the coming weeks

I'll get some more pics in a bit. Waiting for other people to get back to there houses and post them...

Heres some pics of the event: FR 1, 2, and 3

Riding only 2-deep in a crewcab? That's no way to fly!

Coooooool, all I'm going to be able to think about tomorrow in class is your video... keep it high quality, I'm sure it'll be worth the wait

BTW, what in the deep bowels of hell is that rig built out of square tubing? that is the ultimate rock buggy, nuttin to fu**up

2 foot deep or 2 foot diameter? i've done both, and neither is fun
Image

have you ever seen where somebody took a steering box out of a dump truck or similar and transplanted it into a 4x4? i havent, only hydro stuff, but it seems like this would be a decent option to add some beef to a very taxed and critically important piece of hardware on the truck. Even with hydro assist, i think it'd be nice to know that you're not going to twist off a sector shaft if you hit a rock the wrong way. Plus, i'm not totally sold on hydro assist since a rare but possible ram failure or line kink could leave you without steering

That's not likely, but i like to KISS

nice pics, BTW

Wow...

I'm jealous as hell. That looks so fun. I too wish I had deep enough pockets to even slowly put something together like that. Your truck is absolutley awesome in the mud. Looks like those sliders you built came in pretty handy. They get bent at all? How'd the rear bumper hold up?

Send me the vid, I got a capture card.
