Would like to install the SM465 "granny tranny" in my 4 cyl wrangler. The t case is no problem, can any one help with a suggestion on a 60 degree V6 bellhousing option compatable or adaptable to the 465?

Suggestion.

I'm looking at a 4.3L -> SM465 -> D300/NPxfercase

The NP xfercases and the D300 bolt to the adapter that comes with the SM465-208 2 holes dont match but can be adapted.. and the output shaft can be re-splined for cheap at your local machine shop..

Just an idea .. considering 4.3L are a dime a dozen.

then a carbed 350 is a step away.. and a FI 350 a step away from that.

Well Novak sells an adapter..

That's about 4" long or so.. I thnk.

The OEM chevy one is 12" long or so.

But the tranny is only 12" long, and the D300 is wayyy... shorter..

Drag whatever engine your using as far forward as possible.

Measured out.. I'm still about 12" or so shorter then my current setup..

(4.2L AX15/NP231)

But.. IMO it would be easy to cut down and weld up the OEM adapter.. and at a dime a dozen.. I wouldn't be hesitant to try.

If you did that right, then re-splined the SM465 shorter.. It wouldn't be a stretch to venture a guess that you could be installed for WELL under 12" shorter then what I have now.. maybe 18" or so.

No website yet.. this is just me farting around with adpters trans and t-cases.

Well fortunately time is not a problem....I choose not to change to V8 cause I do not want the axel chaNGE EXPENSE. 5th gear is useless in the AX5 now....so maybe I thought this would be a good compromise. The Klune will also add to the wheelbase challenge I now face. So we will see how the project moves ahead.

thanks for the help.
