The windshield wipers on my '90 Cherokee are sluggish and sometimes stall. The high speed is no faster than the low. Anyone know of an upgrade? Is this a common problem?

Have you removed the wiper transmission and motor to see how it runs on the bench?

If I had to guess, I'd suspect the motor. I've had several that bound up over the years because of corrosion between the steel parts and the aluminum case.

Thanks - I did take the wiper assembly apart and re-lubricated it with synthetic grease and cleaned the contacts on the rotating switch. It seems to work OK now, but not quite as well as my Volvos.

I'm thinking of adding one or more relays as needed to provide power that doesn't have to travel so far through tiny wires. I've done that on the power door locks with good results.
