I noticed that there is a lot of rotation on my rear drive shaft when it is just sitting on the ground. I just crawl under there in the drive way and give it a turn. It turns at the very least 10 - 20 degrees maybe more. And I have notice a big klunk in the rear it the clutch comes out too fast. There is a quieter click noise every time that does not sound to horrible. So anyway i am worried that it might be a rear end that I need. I think it has something to do with my vibrations also. The reason for this is now I have a small vibration resonating through the vechicle all the time now. It is still bad in Second gear. Any way let me know what you all think.

Thank you
Jason

Jason, if your running a locker in the rear that much rotation is normal.

well has the rear-end ever been cracked open for anonymous reasons(change R&P etc...) cause if it was done by someone who does not know what they were doing then heck yah that is definitely a possibility either something is off in your rear-end or it is really messed up!!!

JHS, My driveshaft has the same symptoms as yours, except I haven't noticed any vibration problems or clicking. It appears to be slop in my rear end. I've learned to live it and it doesn't appear to be getting any worse with time. What you are descibing sounds like a bad ujoint. You may want to eliminate that as a cause before getting to involved with the pumpkin. Good luck, Mike.

Drain your gear oil and see what it looks smells like.
If there are little glittery bits in it then you have problems, if there are chunks of metal then you have problems. The Ring and pinion backlash may be off, but most likly something, (like the spider gears or sidegears) is bunged up. And check your u-joints too. Good luck

This may sound like a big "DUH!" reply, but you checked to make sure your u-joints were still good, right? I had that EXACT same prob recently and it turned out to be a wasted u-joint.

Well I have checked the u-joints every day this week and when I got home last night form work. As I pulled into the drive. BOOM, i gernaded my axel ujoint. I guess I found my problem for now. Thanks for all the help. I will let you all know if the slop and vibs are there still after the repair. Thanks again.
