Skyjacker lift problem

We put a complete Skyjacker 4" lift kit on this weekend, new front & rear springs on our '82 J10 pickup. It has a AMC 20 rear end & when we put the rear springs on this caused the rear end to be rotate with the output shaft at a upward degree (degree shims were included on the kit). Now we cannot fit the rear shocks into the stock shock mounts (the AMC 20 shock mount is welded to the axle tube). The rotation puts it at an angle beyone where the shock can reach. We even tried removing the degree shim & this did not fix the situation (so we reinstalled them, because they are truly needed) I called Skyjacker today & they were not familiar with my problem and their only suggestion was to turn the shock upside-down. However, I am hesitant to do so, as it seems the angle would lead to too much lateral stress on the shock and the shock would bend. We have fabricated brackets out of some angle to get us by for now (not a preferred permanent solution)

I was just wondering if anyone else has had a similar problems with a lift on their J-trucks or Wagoneers/Cherokees? I had heard good things about Skyjacker vs. Ruff Country on this board & this is the main reason why I went with Skyjacker. Anybody have any suggestions, insight, or experiences with this?

PS, I ordered this from 4wd parts wholesalers & they sent me shocks that were too short for the front.
Thanks
Mel

just completed a 3" lift on an 89 grand wagoneer. got it from rough country. installed as shipped. rear shims were turned wrong with thick end toward center of car (of course us novices need some direction and none existed). pulled drive shaft out too far and caused tremendous vibration. rotated shims 180 deg and everything is fine. didn't have a problem with shocks. will have to extend brake lines tho.
maybe your shims need to turn??
g'luck

My RC 3" lift (front springs & rear 2" blocks/shocks) went by the #'s...except that the spring "centering" bolt is not in the middle of the spring as measured front to back/eye to eye. Thanks for pointing that out RC (read: they didn't). Oilwell, there is never enuf time to do the job rite the first time; BUT there is ALWAYS time to HAVE TO DO IT AGAIN (explitives deleted).

78 waggin' ear, Spring over, 4.56, tru tracs & 35" Coyote all terrains...its a beater

liked the RC kit fine. suspect it is little stiffer ride than the skyjacker stuff. (actually the kit is really for my son) but dad likes to play too! Had a little trouble with the emergency brake cable encasement to being long enough, but easy enough to fix. doesn't look like mom's station wagon any more!!
