Anybody ever try mounting a single bucket seat in the back of a yj? It would be nice to have the room for trail gear and other stuff and also carry a passanger. I have 2 xj buckets lying around, i think i'm going to try and make one work in the back of the jeep. Anybody ever try something like this or have some pictures?

yeah, something like that, do you have any close up pics of how you mounted it? The more i think about it the better an idea this seems. I'll have to take a good look at my jeep tomorow since i have to take 2 people home for spring break.

I have thought about trying to mount two buckets in the rear of my CJ. My thought was to run a peice of tubing from the B pillar back to the rear bar, pretty much right on top of the fenderwell. Then bend two pieces to go down into the bed running from side to side. Finally mount the seats into the two pieces, tieing them into the cage.

Both Brent(mbalbritton) and John(WHTRASH) put singles in the back complete w/ seatbelts for the children. I've ridden in John's for about 40 miles and it was quite comfy. They both have room to the other side for coolers, supplies, or recovery gear (in both their cases
)

FWIW, I have a lowback CJ seat to do the same. Hope to have enough room to mount the spare vertically (to the upcoming cage) on the opposite side. Another bud installed a farm tractor seat in his (for the former GF...torture rack
), it works OK, but has no leg room.
