Does anybody have an aftermarket shift knob that they're happy with? I have a 5-speed and I must have broken/pulled off/cracked/destroyed at least 4 so far, all OEM Jeep knobs. I'm looking for something that is strong and will last forever, I don't care so much about comfort or style.

My stock shifter knob came off and I used a two part epoxy to reattach it. It had just come off the threads and wasn't cracked.Making one would be really simple. I think I'll make one for mine and snap some pics. I think something in stainless with a knurled handle grip woul look pretty nice/wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif

I've gone the epoxy route twice, even tried this black goop stuff. The problem is, that white plastic insert that surrounds the metal threaded shaft tends to crumble. I have a feeling I'm pretty rough on the shifter, sometimes I think I tend to use it has a handle than anything else.

AJ - I'll take you up on that offer. I'll email you the specifics. Is the email address in your profile your current one?

I'm a big fan of the make-your-own. Any old pool ball works great and you can pick your favorite number. I'd say 4 is a great number four Jeeps.

Heck I have so many different knobs from the yards. You could always tap over the epoxy and use one from another vehicle. Man, the best one I own is from a Jeepster. Love the feel of it.

I have had the same problem with the factory ones as listed above but at a car swap meet I bought a white cue ball shift knob with the 5 spd pattern etched on the top with all the adapters to make it fit anything and it is so nice and comfrotable...good luck .... thnk I paid $10.00

I don't want to start anything here, but I have my own opinion of the pistol grips, They're cool in old Mopars, but really for use on the street and strip, I can't stand them. They're fun and all, but the practicality is what wears off the fun.

Speaking of shifting, anyone every played with a three-on-the-tree? Now that's fun!

as a matter of fact Chris my old Jeep Gladiator P.U had a three on the tree I agree that was odd..... Sure do miss that truck, bought it from the original owner for $200.00 and it ran and the 4x4 worked and body straight as hell. It was an arizona truck no ruct and tthe tornado over head cam straight 6 ran like a top till the valves died

We're suposed to have some of the oldest rock on earth up here, must be worth millions!
We've got diamonds the size of shift knobs too, wonder what they'd go for?
