I've been running topless(The CJ that is)and this AM I find that one of the neighborhood cats has sprayed my seat. How do I keep this joker out? Chili pepper powder?

The best cat repellant Ive ever seen is a shotgun. Or you could go out for a midnight critter gettin stroll in the Jeep. Try and hit the thing with your tires so that you dont get pieces stuck in your tie rods and stuff. Seriously though, chili pepper might work but cats seem to go wherever they want whenever they want. I know a guy who has a cat that will find a way into any jeep but will only sit in a car if its a jeep. I had my top on and half doors and the dang thing jumped up on my tire and then my hood. It eventually climbed into the jeep and sat on my seat.

I was at Home Depot today getting some Ant killer and I saw this stuff called Animal Repelant , said it worked on cats and dogs and all other fury critters . Lasts for 30 days and it looked like a liquid . Check it out , it`s in the pesticide dept.

IF you got a cat or a dog, he/she would mark your house and deter other neighbourhood animals..

Especially a dog.
The dog will pee on your mailbox, and tires, but once they do, no other animals will even dare.
An animals teritory is so instinctive, that bears and racoons don't even touch our garbage anymore.

01/27/00 02:42 PM: I MUST write that CO2 thing down!
I know what I've been doing wrong all this time now....
I've been using a 9MM... (...sly grin...)

If you are a little hung over with a 9MM, it means a REAL expensive trip to the body shop.

I have a friend that wired an electric fence charger to his car, kept the cats off! (Killed the computer though)

I really should shut up, I don't have a clue how to keep a cat off the car, except for a dog in the driveway.
That presents an entirely new set of problems....

When a fool and a wise man argue, onlookers can't tell the difference.

I DESPISE cats, even more than that I HATE irresposible cat owners.

the dam things crawl in and out of my cars ( all 3 are covertibles) piss all over everytyhing, and make the Kids sandbox where they cant use it!

I keep my dog on a leash, and in MY yard, why are these animals allowed to run free?

If there is a HUMANE way to elimanate the cats OR THE OWNERS I want to know it.

My wife hates it, but .22 Colibri made by Aguila is extremly effective. Its a 20gr bullet using only a primer, no gunpowder. VERY quiet so you don't disturb the neighbors. It won't cycle a semi-auto so you only get one shot and the range is limited. It is similar to bowhunting I suppose. Team Rush may be able to help with some good recipes. For those that disaprove, keep 'em at home and out of my Jeep.

personally, I couldnt hurt the cat ( unless in rage, which is common!)

but the cats just doing what cats DO, its the responsibility of teh cats OWNER to curb that behavior!

Ive been threating to put antifreeze in my cars floorboards, but a buddy described to me how some cats died like hat at a remodel job he did and its terrible, so I cant do that!

I just throw rocks at them and yell really load, hoping htat the neighbors will take the hint, but they dont.

My dog isnt much help, 60 lb pitbull, hates other dogs, doesnt mind cats at all, barks all night over a sqirrel, but will share her food/water with the cats! ARRRGGHGGGGG

Put tin-foil on your seats, cats hate stepping on the stuff. Other than that, you could set one of these motion-sensing sprinklers near your jeep, it would soak the animal (and your jeep) when they get near it.

Used to have a problem with some feral cats (former pets that went wild) that pestered our cat. Critters would start yowling at each other through the windows. I'd throw my cat in the shower for a minute or two (she'd spend the rest of the night quietly licking herself, so I could get some sleep) and I'd either use the air-rifle on the cat to make it go away, or later my 75lbs compound bow with a flu-flu (1" rubber head used mainly for shooting birds in the air). One night it came back, so I used the bow and a 125gr field tip. Pinned it right to the ground. Didn't bother anyone after that. Folks that let their critters run around unchecked really annoy me. Oh, and don't use antifreeze. Poisins are too indiscriminate.

Oh, if you want to "encourage" an owner to keep their pets at home, make a live trap and trap it. Then take it to the owner and explain the next time the animal won't be coming home. If you decide to use a killing trap, use a Conibear Quick Kill. Very effective and the animal doesn't suffer at all.

I'm having the same problem with one of my neighbors cats. I own two of my own, so I do not advocate killing them (in most instances). However, now that the little f*$%!! has taken to pissing on my front door and attacking one of my cats I may have to bring out the .44 magnum. DON'T use antifreeze. This is incredibley cruel. It causes kidney failure and the animal will suffer an extremely long time.

My brother suggested an innovative item. He told me to take a sheet of copper and put it where the cat is spraying. Connect a wire to the copper and the other end to the postive terminal on your battery. When the cat pees on the copper he completes the circuit. A friend of mine did something similar with his front bumper on his truck to stop a dog from peeing on it. He heard a horrible howling one night and after that it never touched his truck again.

Your local humane society will usually let you use a live trap as long as you bring the cage back to them with the cat alive in it so that they can properly "euthanize" it. To the offending neighbor that lets it run out all night it could have been hit by a truck for all they know. When you pick up the cage wear welding gloves and or cover it up with a sheet because the cat will be royally pissed.

Cat's like dogs are smart..

All you have to do is give them a warning.
There's no need to kill them. The live trap for the owners sake is a good one, your animals keeping the cats away is another good one.

Electric shock, trapping them, hitting them with non-lethal force is all good. If done once, the dog/cat won't come back, they learn fast. Heck, if you yell at a cat, they normally won't come back..

if you see the offending cat locate the owner and explain to them that they will be liable for any and all expenses incured in the cleaning or replacing of you seats i am sure that you will never see that cat again but if you do refer to the electric shock trick it works every time and is non lethal the only thing i have against killing cats that run around the neighboe hood is that if you get caught you could actually do jail time seems that there is no actual season on domestic cats and by the way the public reacts to killing cats i would assume that they are a protected species

Another point of view would be that of the owner.

Having a cat, knowing how annoying it is to wake up to piss in my sock drawer, in gym bags.. or on the bathroom floor, I also know what I would do for my cat.

Telling the owner that they are liable for all damages is good.. but if someone were to kill my cat over something as trivial as it peeing on a seat, I'd be sure to have myself, the Crown Attorney (DA in the US) or the local humaine society launch a lawsuit against the killer.

If that didn't work, letting neighbours know what one of their neighbours is capable of would certainly be a start...

As for tricks to keep them away.. I just thought of another..

For dogs chewing furnatire, tobasco sauce hits the spot..
for cats peeing in my gymbag... it was thoroughly clean it and use plenty of baking soda/powder to soak up the smell.. then a little bit of VINEGAR (spll) works a treat.. just a litte is enough to make the cat think that a very big, mean animal already claimed your Jeep.

Shop broom. In january I was in the garage torquing the heads on the ole motor when the neighbors barn cat decided to piss on me from the rafters. Once I figured out what was going on I chased that sucker for a 100 yards. Never did get a good swipe on him, but he hasn't been back.

It's hard to tell who actually owns this cat. He is all over the place. So I'll just have to run a good defense. But luckily for me I have waterproof seat covers so it's not that big of a deal. Between all of the suggestion I'm sure one will work. I doubt he'll be back.
