/wwwthreads_images/icons/blush.gif Er.....we got Steel Horse, and they SEEM like they are OK. We like the way they sit and the lower edges wrap up on each side/wwwthreads_images/icons/blush.gifWe made a slew of mods to the interior with the SH seats, SH console and the console riser with a floor heater inside of it/wwwthreads_images/icons/crazy.gif Mind you....these seats do not have even ONE mile on them yet/wwwthreads_images/icons/blush.gif

Just went seat shopping with my wife this weekend. We went to Off Road Warehouse in San Diego to try out some to see which felt the best. To me all seem to be of top quality construction but its like trying on a new pair of shoes. It’s what feels the best for you. We tried Best Top, Steel Horse and one other brand that is shaped for racing sand rails. I did not like the full race type because it was hard to get in and out and move around. My type of off roading a street driving in my 84 CJ-7 needed a seat to get in and out easily and yet holds me in from side to side. My wife and I both agreed that the Super Seat from Steel Horse was our choice. The seats are very easy to install and all the hardware lines up! The final test was driving and wow my wife and I were so impressed that we decided to drive all day in the Jeep and we never felt fatigued like the old ones did. Compared to the old stock seats its like night and day.

Boy if I know how nice the ride improvement was I would have changed the seats a log time ago and not wait until they started to brake.

Does anyone have corbeau targa rs seats? There a little more than Bestop but some places offer free shipping and that makes them comparible. Plus they have the slots for race harnesses.

I am going to order the Best Top. I have been planning for this for a year and researched a lot. People are always slamming on Steel Horse. I even seen a post that some one joking said even their Stainless Steel products rust. Someone commented on oh they are that bad they can make Stainless Steel rust. I will stay away from Steel Horse even though most of what they have is appealing Seats look good, console looks good but everyone says its junk.

Beards all the way! Even my scout is comfortable fire road blasting with my beards. I really want to get a set made for my tacoma with the original fabric. They are so nice. Happy Jeepin'

A freind of mine has Corbeau Targa RS seats in his Bronco. These are nice seats not as hard to get in and out as the beards, but they still hold you in place comfortably. They have slots for 5 point harnesses, but I cant see using a 5 point harness in a Jeep. They are also fully reclinable. They run about $300 per seat plus mounts, but they are so comfortable Im deffinitel installing a set of them in the YJ, along with 3" Lap belts from Rosser, (after I install a tilt steering column).

/wwwthreads_images/icons/tongue.gif There are a lot of things that will make stainlees steel rust. For one thing, if crud accumulates on the surface and keeps the stainless from "discharging" to the open air, it can corrode. Another thing is electrolysis.....you see it in boat shafts, water pump shafts, LOTS of applications will cause stainless to become pitted from electrolysis. AND.....there are many different TYPES of stainless, and you select based on what the job is...ie salt water boat shaft....food service equipment...they all are a little different as to how much NICKLE the stainless has and other properties as well. It's risky to catagorize products as "junk" or "super" because there are a lot of different appications for the stuff, and under certain conditions it may perform well but in others it might flunk. One person thinks a seat is just great because it happens to fit their bottom end better and so forth, but in the end THEY have to make it work or not work, and your experience could be vastly different./wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif

I bought a pair of Bestops for the 88 Sahara. Just the cheap ones, non reclining. I love em.
The seating position is raised at least an inch, if not more, so I would say that a tilt column is necessary when installing theses seats.

How much trouble was it to make the MX-6 seats fit?
I bought a Steel Horsey center console from Quadratec a few months ago. JUNK!!
I think it is made of balsa wood and even though it locks, I can get into it by lightly pushing the armrest to the side. Try it on yours CJDave.

/wwwthreads_images/icons/tongue.gif We wouldn't THINK of locking the console in a parked Jeep. That would just mean the welfare receiving, crack-smoking, liberal supported, afirmative action-coddled, excuse aided, scum that are EVERYWHERE in most of CA would just wreck that much more stuff when they ransack the vehicle. Kind of like they did when they ransacked our Grand Cherokee while it was parked exactly in front of the brand-new Elihu Harris office building in the wonderful city of Oakland CA. Parked for 1-1/2 hrs from 6 to 7:30 in the evening......but DON'T get me started!!!/wwwthreads_images/icons/mad.gif OUR CONSOLE is sitting on a riser which is as wide as the console, and is level on top, tapering back to front on the bottom from 8" off the floor to about 3". The console is bolted flat and we have a flat piece of sheet steel in the bottom to give it more strength. We use the console riser to cover the floor heater and act as a duct to the front floorpans. The riser cost as much to make as the console did to buy/wwwthreads_images/icons/crazy.gif
