Ok, I swore off Samurai buying. I wasn't even looking for one when I found it. I was at the local auto parts store today, buying some parts for my Metro, when the manager comes up and asks if I'm the guy who used to buy all those Samurai parts. I told him that I'm the guy. He asks if I want to buy the one that's been sitting out back. So, out of curiosity, I go out and look at it. WOW! It's a 93 2WD Samurai that's got NO RUST whatsoever! I'm talking CLEAN! Apparently, someone dropped it off for a new clutch and never came back to pick it up. He said he thought the store had done a mechanics lien on it and had a title somewhere. Since I know I have all the parts to convert it over to 4WD (and it'll take me all of 2 hours to conver it), I negotiate a price (I won't tell how much) and it's mine. Of course, it's all contingent on him finding the title. If there's no title for it I'll renegotiate an even better price and part it out. I don't really want to part out a clean, rust free Samurai but I don't have the time to get a title. If anyone's interested in it I can post some pics.

These damn things are like a drug. I need to start up a local chapter of SA.

PS- I haven't really sworn them off, I'm just in denial that I have a problem... yesterday I was gutting one for parts...

Last one I did in VA a title wasn't a problem (Abandoned Vehicle proceedure). I just need to know which state it was last registered in.

DMV lady: Are you sure it was abandoned.

Me: Yes, mam. Trust me! Look at this picture right here.

DMV lady: Ouch my EyE's... Ok Ok put it away...

Took some paper work and a certified letter to the last known address. About 6 months later title in hand.

31's stock and yes that is a trail of gas...

Sign me up for SA! I've got three; my DD that I've had since '94 (with modest mods along the way), an 86 JX and 87 JX that I bought as "parts" and am in the "process" of rebuilding as projects. The 86 is close to being ready to leave the garage--lots of body work, electrical, and suspension. Will be for sale soon, if someone in TX is interested. The 87 is in a storage yard, and is really a pile of scraps...it's gonna take a while to get that one trail worthy---but we've all gotta dream, right???!!!
